    Don't mind the thread title, it is a working one.

    I had totally forgotten that I think I have something in the way of a new social forum, thought of it five years ago and it was a forgottery until watching family Guy and Stewie says something alomg the line off - and my memory is sketchy (not for long term memory mind you)

    It is funny how people use other peoples intellectual property or coolness, their work to illustrate their own value and worth and standing by posting and liking songs/movies/books as their inspiration. That is the jist but probably twice as long as how Stewie says.

    Earlier on I posted my top 'X's club90's tunes, in no order but it is there, imagine you could choose any category like top 'X's in 80's music, Madonna hits, motown,songs with types of weather in the title, sex music etc etc

    Now you imagine someone fills a lot of music categories, stuff that he/she is listening to right now, top tunes of 2008. What if you did it with movies, many categories, what if you did with books, biscuits, colours etc etc

    Imagine millions of people have done this and you have someone like Sheldon/Hoffstader/Wolowitz/Koothrapali with their knowledge of algorithms etc. Huge databases.

    You press a button. The back-end trawls through whatever it trawls through. And it pulls out other people who are the closest match to you. Imagine meeting someone with exactly exactly the same taste, impossible I say, but you could get close - and it would not be based on class/gender/colour/wealth/age

    get some celebrities on board

    No takers. Imagine the site - ok you may have to spend time filling in tens of categories but once you do, you submit

    and it whirrs into action and brings you forth people who have exactlt the same taste as you, Imagine someone else also likes the same movies/songs/books/holiday destination/comedians etc etc

    I truly believe that there is someone out for everyone. Yin and Yang, the perfect complement to your individual DNA. For all I know my other half might be a Vietnamese pig farmer, female of course.

    Though finding a partner is not the aim.

    But it's too boring. If you just explore the same things that people who like the same things as you also like, you end up going in circles and you cannot expand. I mean, I know there are variables, everyone is a bit different, but slightly different does not expose you to as much variety as very different would.
    I do see the very obvious benefit. It would be really easy to avoid country music.

    fair points 3. All I know is that I would love to fill in the categories and see what the results bring forth. If a 81 year old had the same taste as me, I would think fucking cool pensioner or start worrying that my act is getting stale.

    Did you know that hijaabis and niqaabis have to take extra vitamins because of the lack of sunlight on skin?
    When I got a new physician and told her I had just taken off hijab and left the desert, she put me on a double dose of vitamin D.

    This 'if Allah was my friend seem to be rich seam to mine for movie ideas.

    But if you think that the movie would be great, then surely the website would be a basis for said movie, the possibility of, then, again surely the website itself is great allowing you to form groups/friends with absolute likeminds, no mateer age/gender/income/geography/colour, your own snapshot that if a movie were possible to devise (and it is and would be good, no doubt) these would be the characters in my movie.

    What about the first part of the OP. the use of songs/books/films to illustrate the person you are, using others creative works to mke yourself look creative or summat like that, I wish I could locate the exact words Stewie used (it is a TV programme family Guy and Stewie is a baby, oh you would have seen that in the other video, it is on T V - how can people not have TV?)

    I have never used MySpace. I did read, when all the hype was going on over Justin Timberlake buying it, that it was supposed to be revamped more along the lines of what you are thinking. But I have heard nothing since. It is definitely more geared towards that than FaceBook is. Do you not have Pinterest there? I think if you combined Pinterest and MySpace, it would be the closest thing. I know that dating sites do utilize similar (but primitive) algorithms, but my maths is awful and my very basic programming is horribly out of date, so I am sorry if I am off.

    No harm in asking. You could also approach it from the opposite end and try contacting a social network. That would be fantastic marketing, to create a new network and a movie on it at the same time.
