  • Who Wants To Live In A Theocracy?
     OP - October 15, 2013, 10:40 PM

Well not me of course. I do cherish human rights. Human rights violations are rampant in theocracies.

Yes. yes they are. In Africa (I think it's Uganda) about 4 years ago they passed a law making homosexuality a crime punishable by death. It was pushed through by evangelical christians. Then there's the barbaric track record of human suffering in the islamic world.  Malaysia is looked at as a model for islam and democracy in harmony. Don't they have rehabilitation centres if you want to leave the faith?

`But I don't want to go among mad people,' Alice remarked.
`Oh, you can't help that,' said the Cat: `we're all mad here. I'm mad.  You're mad.'
`How do you know I'm mad?' said Alice.
`You must be,' said the Cat, `or you wouldn't have come here.'

From what I hear the situation in Uganda can be blamed on American Christians giving the country support.

Yes Malaysia does have rehabilitation centers for people who want to leave Islam.

    I'm not glum.

To be honest I believe religion and politics should be separate.

While I want religion and politics to be separate, I also don't want to be completely secularized like the U.K. I would be fine if we just pay more respect to the U.S. constitution and apply it more. Other then that I like America to be different.

So you want it to be separate but still have a voice? How does that go with separation of church and state, which by the way is one of the greatest political decisions ever made, if not enforced?

`But I don't want to go among mad people,' Alice remarked.
`Oh, you can't help that,' said the Cat: `we're all mad here. I'm mad.  You're mad.'
