    I know you mean well. But telling me what to do is not a good idea. I left obedience inside my 40 Hadith and walked away. Not even DA gets away with it.

    Oh, crazed literalists. Hmmm. So, it is wrong? It does not mean what it says? I can disregard it? There is no meaning, no implication? No sexism, no racism, no elitism? No disregard of humanity, of human rights?

    Man, I wish I could have done that with Hadith and Quran. I would have just plucked out a few useful things and disregarded the rest. Maybe I will re-enter the faith. I am Muslim. I am an ala carte Muslim. I am keeping Ghusl and Sadaqa, only.

    there will always be people who have a malicious reading, some might even fabricate the whole narrative - it's not an unfamiliar concept.

    I'd recommend giving the pick n mix method a try but you're carrying too much baggage.

    Pick and mix Islam is called apologist dawah. It's a method. I left my baggage with my 40 Hadith. I kept my dhikr beads. I do what I want, without fear. Islam has more baggage than LAX.

    You know, despite some really nice quotes coming out of all of this, I really don't like how it derailed this far from Cornflower's intent with making this topic.  She wanted to connect with people that have had similar journeys, not have to debate whether her purpose for leaving is justified or not.

    I used to be one of those sneaky apologists. But I meant well. I just took whatever I liked out of context, helped right along by my translated apologist literature. I cherry picked my Islam to suit whoever I was helping into/remain in the faith. Blissfully, happily, knowing I was helping create and keep slaves to Allah. Sorry to my victims.

    Who is ignorant? Who is enlightened? According to most, enlightened has to do with waking up the parts of your mind that are not normally used. I don't do drugs, man.

    Nice to know you believe in Islam but not in hell. Good for you. Throw out the parts you don't want! Change the faith! Defend the Bid'aah! You could be the next Baha Ullah.

    You know, I am sorry, Cornflower is sweet and deserved a clean thread. But also I am known for this. I spew everything all over the place. I am so sloppy about it. I have the biggest mouth, you should hear me yelling in foreign tongues at the children. It is like staccato rap. I cannot control myself anymore. It's a huge improvement over mousy, obedient, me.

    Nah, I do it too, but I think I like Cornflower so that's why I am curbing myself.  That and the exact same debate is going on in his intro thead.  I think Quod just hit on Ex-hijabi in the most profoundly Islamic fashion in it too. I was impressed.

    True, it only works only on one network and its roaming capabilities are severely limited. But why roam when all earthly and celestial perfection is already within your grasp?

    Who could ever tire of a Peace Mobile? Its best bits are the best.
