    Yeaaayyy let's celebrate a misogynist and sexist piece of clothing that women are "free" to wear. Let's also speak about how it honors women and how it does not make them into a sex object. And let's completely ignore the fact that far more women across the world do not have the "free choice" whether or not to don it. Last, but not least, let's ignore the fact that women are "adviced" how they will burn in hellfire or perhaps be raped if they show their beauty to other men.  mysmilie_977

    I think it is good to celebrate such thing to remember Islam.

    And I would suggest  ALL MUSLIM MEN should put on that hijab on this day., Where as women who would like to wear  on their own free will  all along the year should take out the hijab on that day.....

    This is an insult to all the women in the muslim world that are forced to wear a hijaab everyday.

    The organizers of this events are either extremely ignorant or will willfully trying to hide/cover up the abuse that women suffer across the world for not wearing the hijaab.

    Either way they should be ashamed of themselves.

    They are probably both. They are ignorant about the real ramifications that Muslim dress code causes. They claim to believe in "free choice" but that is just empty words. At the end, none of them believe in "free choice" because it is an order from their allah and thus an obligation for all women. That Mufti Menk who seems to be one of the figure heads behind this tacky little stunt would never, and I say never, allow his daughters to have the "free choice" do decide whether or not they want to don the hijab. Fuck them, they're nothing but hypocrites .

    They completely ignore the fact that hundred of thousands of Muslim women (or "Muslim") are forced to cover themselves up. When you bring this up, they either completely censure or ignore you or come up with some lame excuse "Islam is under attack". I hate them so much. Someone said I shouldn't use the word hate, but I will. Because that is exactly what I feel when I see or hear these people. Even when I was "among them" I disapproved with their apparent hypocrisy and blatant lies they uttered in debates. When no one was around and only Muslims were there to listen, it was a completely different story.

    What pisses me off even more are the ignorant and idiotic westerners who think they are "helping out the minorities" by participating in this.

    No we don't fucking need you to come to "save the brown people" we can look after ourselves thank you very much. And if you actually want to show solidarity for an oppressed group try sticking up for atheists and religous minorities that suffer persecution daily in muslim countries.

    Or if you don't have the courage to stick up for minorities that are actually oppressed the least you can do is to refrain from proudly wearing a garment that is used to guilt and shame ex muslims and moderate muslims alike.

    It's a disgrace.

    My and relatives really hate the hijab and niqab for the same reasons as above . The women out my relatives agree a simple scarf is more than enough. My dad acknowleges the fact that the onlyy reason people in saudi arabia wear those fully covered dress is to avoid the sands and sand storms in the desert . Even men are as much clothed as women there .

    1) I know that young girls (9 years) that wear the hijab and the most f'd up thing is their mothers don't. Muslimah

    2) The reason why Muslims have to come up with apologietics literature/BS on free choice and hijab is because of the simple fact that for centuries women have been forced to wear the hijab. The issue didn't arise from nowhere.

    3) Both the Qur'an and Hadith state that the primary purpose of the hadith is that women dress modestly BECAUSE so that they may not be recognised. Hijab is meant to strip you of your individual identity and integrate you into the Muslim Ummah.

    4) Islam objectifies women as it regards them as sexual creatures first and foremost. All men are de facto perverts. LOL even the website I posted in the OP states that 'women are like pearls'. Sorry love, there are no pearls in this world. We're all messed up.

    5) No matter what anyone says or what anyone thinks no woman is THAT good looking that she requires to wear a hijab to prevent people from looking at her or raping her.

    The Muslim men must be laughing their arses off because the women are self-reprimanding and reinforce patriarchal ideology/structural violence. It's like programming a mindless robot to keep whipping itself and trying to convince others to do the same.

    I suppose I did celebrate it (Even though I didn't know it existed till a few seconds ago).  But then every day is hijab day for me.

    I wonder how many of them would think it's something to celebrate if they were wearing it all year round, every time they left the house, whatever the weather...
