I have to say I am surprised and think it was the scare tactics.
Or the realism.
I read a great article by a Scottish writer who joined the Yes campaign half way through and was told immediately to ask no questions and go along with it because the cause was just and all would be perfect in the perfect future (remind you of anything?).
But he saw any number of different groups with different, and wholly incompatible, views of this perfect future, and resented not being allowed to ask questions. So he left.
(Can't remember his name, so no link. Sorry.)
Having said that, I'm sad they didn't vote yes. My first instinct is always to destroy and recreate. Happily I confine this urge to digging up lousy gardens and rebuilding lousy buildings rather than lopping people's heads off with my machete.
