If the dog’s skin has been tanned, then (I don’t remember who) says that it is OK. Another school of thought says that it is permissible, but only if the dog’s skin is turned inside out…etc”

    When someone has a degree in Islamic Law, they likely spent a few years memorizing crap like this. All of this is covered in “Bab at-Tahaarah - The Book of Purification" which the scholars say one must learn before moving on to any other matters, as purification is necessary for prayer.

    Muslims living in non Islamic  countries enjoy freedom that comes with challenges. The true reality of this liberty is rather described as a great responsibility to appoint the right leadership. It is not the ideal system because the leader is appointed by majority and not ability and capability.

    The democratic system allows citizens to be free from dictatorship. Race and religion are respected and tolerated. Minority Muslims residing  in a Democratic framework must use their power of choice  to appoint leadership that will respect and secure the sanctity of Shari'ah.

    The fundamental framework between an Ideal Islamic System varies from a Democratic system. The founder of the constitution and the laws are designed by the Creator as opposed to the creation. The purpose to life and vision to success is the key principle in defining the different systems. Shariah detests seeking the appointment of leadership whilst  our current candidates promote their appointment. Hadhrat Abdur Rahman Bin Samurah R. A. Reports:       
    قال لي رسول الله صلي الله عليه وسلم: يا عبد الرحمن! لا تسال الامارة ؛ فانك ان اعطيتها عن مسالة، وكلت اليها و ان اعطيتها عن غير مسالة اعنت عليها. ( احكام القران للقرطبي: 9/216
    Rasoolullah S.A.W. informed me: O Abdur Rahman! Do not seek authority. If you are awarded authority as a result of you seeking it you will be reliant, and if you are awarded the authority without seeking it you will be assisted in your duties.

    In general a citizen that supports a party that promotes and regulates un-Islamic laws is considered a promoter of such evils. E.g Banning Hijab, objecting to Masjids, extortion of wealth, etc

    Sometimes a representative is faced with transgressions and evils in whatever decision he pursues. If he chooses to accept the appointment of  leaderhip he will be obliged to swear an oath and comply with the constitution of the land that contradicts Shariah. And if he does not accept the role then he will not be in a position to oppose oppression, Un-Islamic laws and regulations.

    Minority Muslims living in Non Muslim contries do not have the choice of residing separate from the law and in vacuums. In such circumstances ,senior Ulama have documented that Muslims apply the lesser of two evils principles.This principle was derived from the incident of the treaty of Hudaibiyyah. When Muslims live in a country as a minority , the rules that would have applied in the event of choice and preference are replaced with regulations of compulsion. Therefore when circumstances and conditions change the appropriate Shari'a principles are applicable.

    An illustrious example is mentioned in the Quran when Nabi Yusuf. A.S. proposed to the king to be the Finance Minister. This incident makes provision for a Muslim to take responsibility and be a candidate in a Non Muslim country even if the laws of the country is not according to the Shariah. Allamah Qurtubi mentions that the role and function performed by the Muslim must not contravene the principles of Shari'ah.

    Conclusion:

    1.It is permissible for Muslims to participate in the elections of a Democratic country by representing a party or a supporter

    2. It is also permissible to join the activities of the political party to assist in the influence and support of the party.

    3. Give preference to a candidate or party that is the lesser of evils. If a party  contradicts the principles of Islam while the other does not then give preference to the latter party. If parties contravenes the principles then support the party that is lesser of the evils. If they are equal then give preference based on character reference, parties vision and historical records.

    4. A Muslim Political party or representative must object to any Shari'a contraventions even if their voice or vote does not have an influence on the decision and regulation based on the Ahaadith of our beloved Nabi Muhammed S.A.W.

    That country floods basically every time it rains. God has been trying for ages.

    My friend over there has kids who hope for rainy days like we hoped for snow days to cancel school. Grin

    Nah, I found it on reddit. I've seen this kind of stuff on Islamic forums before, what made it even more creepy and weird was that this was on a mainstream non-Muslim site so everyone was like "what the actual fuck!?"
