So I have a few questions, mostly for the ladies but the gents are welcome to join in. Regarding masturbation for those who have left religion and have been brainwashed into thinking its something 'wrong'

    1. Do you mastubate?
    2. How often?
    3. Do you feel guilt afterwards?
    4. How do you deal with this guilt?

    so Il go first
    1. Yes i do
    2. about twice a week
    3. I feel extremely guilty
    4. I keep talking myself out of the guilt, reminding myself that i'm not hurting anybody and this isn't going to give me cancer or kill me, but I really hate that I have to feel bad about it afterwards.

Just think of it as a health supplement. Masturbation in men reduces the risk of prostate cancers, and also generally produces endorphins; great painkilling effects for periods and the like. Isn't alcohol in Islam allowed if for medical reasons such as amputations etc.? Think of it along those lines and then I should think you could free yourself from the guilt; not that it is wrong in the first place.

(not that we care about islamic rulings) but it is encouraged within islam to prevent commiting unlawful sex... It is only discouraged when in a relationship or when in excess so much that it prevents one from seeking a partner.

^ It's actually haram but some scholars allow a concession for young men who are unable to marry. Even then, it's only as a preventive measure if they're on the brink of committing zina. And it only applies to men because good Muslimahs don't have sex drives, apparently.

    @OP
I'll avoid discussing my masturbation habits as a female on the Internet because I'm not a fan of creepy PMs Tongue but even when I was Muslim I can't say the guilt was too much. It was there but it was very dull and not strong enough to stop me. I figured it's not mentioned in the Quran and I don't think there are any hadiths that mention masturbation explicitly so I was like "whatevs". Now, my attitude is that it's not hurting anyone and it's perfectly safe and healthy. Nothing wrong with it at all. Try to think about it like that. Pretty much everyone does it, probably even especially the sheikhs who rant against it.

Before leaving Islam I felt a ton of guilt when masturbating.  I used to get horny and then masturbate.  Then I'd cry in prayer to allah to help me stop this evil habit and then I'd end up doing it again and had to repent again.  The vicious cycle repeated itself too many times.

    My post islam habits:

    1) Of course I masturbate

    2)  Once a day ( sometimes more during the summer for obvious reasons)

    3) Now I feel no guilt at all.  It's my body and I'm going to do what I want with it.

    4)  No guilt.  Just jack off and then get on with my day.

In my opinion a life without curiosity is not a life worth living

Most people masturbate if they don't have a partner/someone with whom they can have sex with, and those who don't do it often misses out on something besides fulfilling their sexual urgrs. If you don't know your own body, how can you expect someone else to know what you like or not. Sure, you can spend considerable time doing it together, but there's no reason for you not to do it yourself as well.

Before I had sex the first time, and a long time after marriage, I was very rigid because of my conservative upbringing and the shame I as a woman felt for having sexual desires. I was still horny, but never dared to touch anything down there. I started masturbating when I stopped connecting female sexuality with shame and the idea that it can only exist in connection with a man. When my ex didn't have time to give me an orgasm due to various reasons such as being interrupted by a crying baby at night, or when he was away on trips etc, I masturbated and he knew it. He thought I was a weirdo, but I just lost interest in sex all together if I didn't enjoy it.

Having sex without the orgasm at the end is pointless IMO but that's because I know I can have it without having to "mystify" it. No bs about it being "normal" never to climax. Of course people never reach climax if all the focus is on being a sex symbol. This reminds me of the TED talk that was uploaded here some time ago about sexual objectification. Instead of being IN the sex act, women tend to "observe" themself from the outside. Being a sexual object instead of subject.

Went off topic, but seriously. Female(or male) sexuality isn't shamefull and self pleasure can never be wrong. It's a "victimless crime" just like shirk and kufr, if we're looking at it from a Muslim background.

I would NOT consider that as  a problem to any one or to you Rubaya., That is very little to do with the problems in Islam and problems of Islam.  People just copy pasted that from Jewish food habits of pre-medieval  times.
