    Nice, thanks!

I've already done Baldur's Gate, at least one of them, I can't remember which now. And I definitely already played the Fallout ones. Fallout 3 was the first sandbox style game I ever played, and the entire thing blew my mind. I was staying up all night and skipping meals to play that thing. The rest I will have to look into!

I am talking about paper, people. Paper and books. Original Role Playing Games. It still happens, you know. It is organized in this small town I live in. There is not much else to do, really.

Cheesy My first boyfriend used to have huge Dungeons and Dragons meets at his house in high school. I went there once, and kind of sat there looking awkward and wouldn't play. I was too shy and way too confused, but they looked like they were having fun.

You would have liked Warhammer better. D&D is too reliant on stats.
But even then, I was still the only girl.

I never actually played either...I'll put it on my bucket list. I'm still close friends with the ex, maybe he'll show me the ropes when I'm in town.

Nerd Culture is not a big thing in India so I never got to do the fun stuff that required nerdy friends Cry... No group gaming marathons, no D&D, no conversations on science, etc.

Aw. If I had a competent computer/internet connection, I'd marathon games like crazy with you. This thing can practically only run NES/SNES games, though. Need to upgrade someday...

Didn't you say you were coming to the West? You still have a chance, the group here is all adults, and some over thirty, from what I saw. I bet you can fulfill all nerd wishes in university. Don't fret.

Oh, but you said slaves. Not fond of that concept. I am resisting conversion, and being a chess idiot is helping me. Embarrassment is a strong deterrent. Still nudging the kids over to it, though. Better that, than any other.

I really don't do well with the grinding aspect of games, that may be why many RPGs don't appeal to me. I do appreciate the strategy aspects, just not the repetition.

Lol, its a game marketed to kids. From my recollection of the anime, half the time the show was just emphasizing the friendship and bond between trainers and pokemon. It doesn't really condone slavery, just bloodsport, in a way.

Its hard to explain. You just have to sort of play it.

Click "play online", then "look for battle" and you will be thrown right into the core gameplay. It can be highly addicting though, so be forewarned and if you don't like it, it will become quite evident after giving it a try.

Pokemon is pretty awesome. I used to play a lot of Pokemon until Black & White, at which point I lost interest, because it felt a bit repetitive, probably because I haven't played much multi-player...Magikarp was the best pokemon!

Black and White was rather repetitive and dumb, at least at a competitive level. With the new gen, they've fixed a lot of stupid game mechanics, so I'm finding I'm enjoying playing it a lot more.  Smiley

    Any recommendations, three or Descent?

I'm not even sure if the first category it would fall into is RPG, but there was this NES game called Wizardry that was this insanely hard and unforgiving D&D style maze game. I absolutely loved that thing, and it is on our list to play this summer.

If you're into old rpgs and like soccer at all, one of the best games I've played for the NES was "Captain Tsubasa II".

Once again, highly addictive though, so be forewarned.  Tongue

You had to say RPG. I was into Warhammer like no one's business. Cyberpunk and Vampyre were not bad, either. I was always Nosferatu. That is back when gaming was still a bunch of people sitting around together in the same room, with papers and books. Even if you didn't like someone, their being a good gamemaster/dungeonmaster was an asset. Right about the same time in history when everyone realized D&D was bogged down by numbers.

Kinda want to get into that sort of thing, if only for the social element.

Another idea I had is that in the internet age we could do something like that over skype. I'm sure there are DM's who do stuff like that, right?

^ I actually found things like this much easier to come across in the small town setting. At least, there would be more dedicated people because the other options are minimal. In a big city like Honolulu, it was hard to find some fellow nerds, but in my hometown, we all know where to go. Grin

That might explain it. We have space and time dedicated to this, but where I grew up, in a major city, it was a basement thing.

Now that this is officially a gaming thread, I have been wanting to revisit Diablo for ages. I had played it way back when with some friends, but I don't recall ever finishing it.

I wish there were some new games that I'd be really excited for, but it's been one of those slow years. Everyone lost their minds over Titanfall, so maybe there's something there.

It's a seriously fun game with very neat concepts. However, it's flawed in that it has the most pathetic campaign ever, and it's a bit limited, in the sense that as a multi-player game only, there is only a couple maps, a handful of weapons, and only one Titan design. I played it on a sort-of-friend's Xbox One.

The multi-player is indeed fun, but not worth $60 alone, I'd wait 'till the price drops. If you want a great, newish FPS, I would recommend Far Cry 3, Bioshock: Infinite...or Tomb raider if your into TPS and a strong female protagonist (a rare sight in games).
