    If Daesh did make an assault on Turkey one would think they would change the game completely. Turkey is part of NATO, so presumably the other NATO countries (27 of them) would need to live up to the treaties they signed.

    True, but statement still stands, either way they will be forced to do the same thing. US is in talks with Kurds therefore Turkey will have to side with the Kurds in any action they now have accepted in doing.

    It is a very interesting time indeed.

    I got an email from a friend yesterday, one of her friends works in international aid in northern Iraq, he said in some kurdish viliage Isis are going door to door and beheading all the children and leaving the parents alive... Unbelievable cruelty..  :(

    In the Alan Henning execution video, 'Jihadi John' addresses Obama and says "you have started your aerial bombardment in Sham, which keeps on striking our people, so its only right we continue to strike the necks of your people." 

    It would have been interesting if he quoted quranic verses such as chapter 47 verse 4, or chapter 8 verse 12, to show everyone where they got the nasty idea of 'striking necks'.

    hmmm. things have a way of taking unexpected turns. I wouldn't be totally surprised if the Turks decided to make an end to the whole problem by piling into the Kurds as well.

    Well, much of what ISIS does is actually pretty sound from an Islamic standpoint. Murdering Alan, though, doesn't really have much textual backing and would most probably be considered haram even by the most hardline interpretations. Alan was there only to provide aid and quite literally sought shelter amongst Muslims. There really was no possible suspicion he could have been a fighter or a spy as could have been said about the journalists.

    "And if any one of the polytheists seeks your protection, then grant him protection so that he may hear the words of Allah . Then deliver him to his place of safety. That is because they are a people who do not know." 9:6

    "Allah does not forbid you from those who do not fight you because of religion and do not expel you from your homes - from being righteous toward them and acting justly toward them. Indeed, Allah loves those who act justly." 60:8

    "Who ever kills a person under pact of security shall not smell the fragrance of paradise." -Hadith

    The rapes, the beheadings, the slavery, all that stuff was kosher under Islamic rules of war. This, though, even using the rules they claim to use, was a murder pure and simple.

    Which is better than nothing but seriously, technical grounds? Not due to a "do unto others as you would have done to yourself." Sometimes wonder whether they are so self-loathing they would kill themselves on those grounds if the conditions were right, therefore see it as right to kill others on that rationale too.
