  • First Meetup of Ex-Muslims living in Scandinavia
     OP - June 28, 2014, 10:14 AM

    Hello folks,

I've been discussing the idea of a small linkup for Ex-Muslims that live in Scandinavia with Nikolaj and I'm aware there is some positive feedback. I know that this website has served and continues to serve as a great tool to connect with like-minded people over the internet, but I think physically meeting up and discussing will give us all a big boost to continue along our journey.

We can meet up at a nice coffeeshop on the outskirts of Copenhagen that hopefully will make you all feel comfortable.
Besides, as we are now in the holiday season I think most of us will be able to find time.

If you are interested in attending, send me a pm or post here what time suits you best. I know some of you are coming from as far as Sweden so you will have to book tickets in advance.

Alternatively I can set up a secret group on Facebook and we can all liase in there for a suitable time.

    Peace

    Thanks Lilyesque Smiley

Actually there is already (didn't relay this info to thethruth, sorries  lipsrsealed ) Council of Ex-Muslims of Scandinavia (CEMS) but I have never seen anything from them regarding Denmark except a few articles written from a press release (in Danish) back in 2007.

I have wanted to try to poke it to see if it is alive but never gotten around to do it. I am not an Ex-Muslim myself so I prefer to stay in the back (and I'm introvert too so that is perfectly fine Tongue ).

Then we have Danish Atheist Society (link in English) who actually hosted a conference about 3 years ago where Maryam Namazie said a whole lot of intelligent stuff (all in English):

Really worth it to listen to, I think.

I will be on Roskilde festival from tomorrow and be back home Monday 7th of July. I might check the site here a few times while at the festival if it is convenient for me.

I know of Council of Ex-Muslims of Scandinavia but I haven't seen anything from them neither.

    Thanks for the contribution Nikolaj!

If it hasn't happened yet it really needs to. Good luck! Afro

`But I don't want to go among mad people,' Alice remarked.
`Oh, you can't help that,' said the Cat: `we're all mad here. I'm mad.  You're mad.'
`How do you know I'm mad?' said Alice.
`You must be,' said the Cat, `or you wouldn't have come here.'

Good Luck to all. Hope it goes well!!!

Interesting talk. Disagree in some places though with Maryam and she seems to sidestep some issues there.

The CEMS site doesn't seem to be working anymore? I can't find anything on the web either. Like I said to Nikolaj, I would love to meet up. Personally I wont be able to do anything before August since I'm on vacation with my children most of July but hopefully it will be something that will be a regular thing  Afro

This is the website of the Council of Ex Muslims of Scandinavia.

    http://www.exmuslim.net/index.htm

You guys might want to link up with them for meet ups and stuff.

In my opinion a life without curiosity is not a life worth living

@TheDarkRebel: The group doesn't seem to be active anymore.

We have set the date to Saturday the 26th July. This should give those of you who are coming from outside Denmark enough time to book tickets. Expect the meeting to take place around afternoon. I haven't decided on a spot yet but I'm juggling a few ideas at the moment. However first of all me and Nikolaj need to find out who can come on that day.

Please send me your email address if you are still interested so I can send a collective mail with exact time and location. Obviously I can't put it up here as this is an open forum and as I can imagine some of you are still in the closet.

    Peace
