  • Ex-muslims and other religions?
     OP - January 11, 2015, 05:34 PM

I've spent many hours on Jehovah Witness forums and read far too many horror stories of their mistreatment of those who left the 'truth' as they call it.  However, there is a very common pattern of people leaving the JW's and moving to other religions.  I wondered if that was the case with ex-muslims and if so which religion do they tend to lean towards?

I think most of us tend toward atheism/agnosticism/deism/pantheism/panentheism or something of the sort.
We've had enough exposure to Abrahamic worldviews, so you won't see many Ex-Muslims on this forum claiming to be born again Christians.

My mind runs, I can never catch it even if I get a head start.

Most ex-muslims I've heard of tend to avoid Abrahamic religions as Qtian wrote, but a few of them become Christian.
Which in my head does not really make any sense.

The JW's tended to go for other Christian religions, or some to Islam.  Which seemed weird to me, had they not learnt their lesson?  I could more so understand swapping to another religion, than another version of the same one.

It might be for the sense of community and for a persistent belief in a higher power. I know some really nice churches here do a lot for their larger communities, needy individuals, and their congregation. If you have been cast out and shunned, it might be that a new community is your first impulse.

That would make more sense, than just saying "I found Christ" like I've seen some say.
