Hello everybody,
I have been hanging around reading for a while and decided it was time to join the club!
I have never been a Muslim but I have some turkish friends who are secular / not practicing and a very close friend who is apostate Iranian so the subject interests me very much. I found you as your lovely forum got a mention in btl comments on the Guardian.
I myself am British, was Roman Catholic by birth, taught by nuns

;)but from being very young disagreed with Catholicism and used to drive my re teachers crazy arguing! Thankfully there were no repercussions for me doing that and I hope one day that everyone will be free to make their minds up.
As a teenager I became an atheist with a few drifts into agnosticism.
Now an atheist.
Have read many bios on here and this site has cheered me up. despite some very difficult lives/situations people still have a sense of humour and speak rationally and logically.
So am really glad to be part of it . Hope you don't mind an ex left footer joining you ex Muslims!
You don't need religion to have principles and compassion for your fellow creatures.
Anyway, happy to join your gang!
