    He was an author and I have just got one of his books.  It seems the extended family have kept this quiet!  He wrote a biography of Sade, The Divine Demon.

    What is fascinating is how modern revolutionary movements are incredibly reactionary, with religion leading and sex to be utterly hidden, except of course, for the true believers with their wives and slaves.

    I know this is a huge agenda, but it is very strange finding out that my uncle was very involved in writing up the history of sex, politics and religion!

    Thanks, he was 95 and had a good life including 60th wedding anniversary card from her maj!

    But it is his work as an author that was never discussed in my hearing in family gatherings!  And what he wrote about!!

    I had a moment there wondering what was so controversial about Sade. Anyway it sounds like your uncle was an interesting man with an interesting life.

    Yes the original!  But what was fascinating is that I was completely unaware of this until I googled my uncle's name!  I knew he had written some fiction in the late 50's early 60's so I looked to see if they were available anywhere.  He, his wife and my cousins went to Australia in the mid 60's on the £10 thing.  I did not realise the reason was to research and write a biography!

    Good stuff, Moi.

    The highlight of my school acting career was playing Sade in The Persecution and Assassination of Jean-Paul Marat as Performed by the Inmates of the Asylum of Charenton Under the Direction of the Marquis de Sade.

    My uncle's book describes the end of his life there, and how the person in charge was possibly providing better more humane care than is available now, with our modecate and other drug pushing.

    Sade is possibly one of the most important people of the last few hundred years.

    And he was wonderfully sane living in a lunatic asylum!

    Sorry for your loss moi. It does seem that your uncle lived a very full life though, whatever comfort that may be.

    That is him!  I need to broach with his direct family about publishing his works on kindle.  There are copies available second hand and it is my impression my uncle should be read before tackling Sade, that I am now enjoying!

    My extended family has two parts, a very religious part and those not!  Because my mother was on the religious side I get the impression certain things have been kept from me!  One of those short stories I believe is actually based on my family!

    No! That is from Justine by Sade written in prison about 1790!

    My uncle wrote a biography of Sade , who although extremely rude is definitely worth reading! I am surprised Sade is not quoted more!

    What a strange surprise to find out he had the same interests as yourself or perhaps not, maybe it just runs in the family. Smiley

    My uncle's humanist funeral was brilliant.  He wrote his own eulogy, entitled Funeral Ceremony, sometime in the future, that started
