If Mohammed Shafiq really believes this he is badly out of touch with the wider community he aspires to represent.

But they are forced to do the former because of the latter.

let me be the devil advocate here.
The idea that a Muslim family kick out their 17 years old "daughter" because she is not praying, or not believing in God is rather far-fetched to me, what really would be intolerable though, is having a boy friend or some western "life" style. which is perceived as a shame to the "honor" of the family.

just to be clear , I am not suggesting that she deserve that or any apologetic shit, but simply the situation probably is more complex.

lol... true and strangely enough it is Muslims living in the west that often seem more unforgiving to those who break ranks. Perhaps because they are a minority and as such feel their identity more threatened and so are much more defensive and insular.

Yes, the backlash against her has unfortunately been strong. She does not mention anything critical about Islam in that video, but just the notion that someone dares to leave their religion, is enough to make them loose their mind. Perhaps it puts doubts in their minds? Crazy stuff.

There is a reason why Islam is creating more extremists and terrorists than all other religions combined. There is a reason why people are directly quoting Islamic scripture while blowing themselves up. Muslims have such an unhealthy, obsessive and uncritical approach to their faith.

Muslims need to understand, there is nothing, not a damn thing, which makes their religion unique. Its just another faith among many, which is as reliant on indoctrination as all other religions. Take away indoctrination and watch these religions crumble.
