  • I began to see that he was making up fatwas

    From an opening post here!

Does that happen to summarise Islam and its history?

A huge tradition of making stuff up and asserting its authority because someone recorded the chains of Chinese whispers all the way back to Gabriel in a cave?

Is that Islam's Unique Selling Point, being better at making stuff up and selling it?

When you are a Bear of Very Little Brain, and you Think of Things, you find sometimes that a Thing which seemed very Thingish inside you is quite different when it gets out into the open and has other people looking at it.

It's fairy tales aren't anywhere close to being the best out there.

`But I don't want to go among mad people,' Alice remarked.
`Oh, you can't help that,' said the Cat: `we're all mad here. I'm mad.  You're mad.'
`How do you know I'm mad?' said Alice.
`You must be,' said the Cat, `or you wouldn't have come here.'

Islam's unique selling point is the irrational emotional attachment to Islam created through childhood indoctrination. "Incidentally", that's the unique selling point of all religions.  grin12

But muslims unfortunately take it all a bit too far. Which is why most muslims unfortunately have such a fanatical and irrational approach to anything remotely attached to Islam.

I never commented on the quality of what was made up, only quantity!  Islam is the Henry Ford, the first mass producers of tall tales complete with made up traditions of who told them to who to give them a veneer of authenticity?
