Anjem Choudary faces UK terrorism charges over Islamic State

Radical UK preacher Anjem Choudary is one of two men who has been charged with inviting support for Islamic State militants, Scotland Yard says.
He is accused of "inviting support" for so-called Islamic State (IS) between 29 June 2014 and 6 March this year.
He and another man, Mohammed Mizanur Rahman, have each been charged with one offence under section 12 of the Terrorism Act 2000.
They are due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court at 14:00 BST...

They better have a good case so they can make it stick or we will be treated to his smug face gloating on the court steps.

Interesting one can support and recruit for a Judaic State(Israel) but not a Islamic State.

Nothing like a bit of Judaic privilege

Islamic State isn't actually a state though, its merely an organisation calling itself Islamic State.  Its also an organisation proscribed under anti-terrorism legislation, so obviously people who recruit for it will be arrested.

As for Choudray, I always thought he worked for MI5.  Maybe I was wrong, or maybe he's just outlived his usefulness to the security forces.

Every State is an organisation or group of organised people calling themselves a State. The idea of a State is a human created  concept. All States are artificial concepts.

"Terrorist" is just a propagandist term used to denigrate ones enemies. Western establishment have themselves flip-flopped many times on who they regard as a terrorist depending on self-interest and political motivations. I can name Nelson Mandela and Usama Bin Laden as two examples just off the top of my head.

As for "of something is illegal so it's bad", that's a appalling fallacy. It was illegal for women to vote in the UK not so long ago, it was illegal to be a homosexual in the UK not so long ago. What's legal/illegal is often a construct of supremacists/oppressors. It's not legal to be an apostate in many Muslim majority countries.

As a secularist, I myself see all Theocratic States as privileged and outdated and Theocratic States lead to prejudice and persecution of minorities. As a liberal I think one has the right to lobby for a theocratic state as a form of political entity as long as you don't call for violence or behave violently. I think it should be criminalised to recruit for ANY organisation which incite violence or are violent to towards innocent civilians or steal other people's land. So to be consistent this would include both ISIS and Israel. Consistency is important.

I just posted this on my Facebook Page & thought I'd share:

While I'm very glad he's finally been charged, the truth is that he & similar hate-preachers are not the root of the problem. Of course it's easier to blame them and vent our anger and frustration - and perhaps even our guilt - onto them. No doubt it makes us feel better, but until we (as Muslims) start asking some serious questions of ourselves and the religion we subscribe to - & find truly convincing answers - not laughable apologetics - then the Anjem Choudarys will keep coming.

Well said, unless this occurs, I fear that the future generations of "muslims" might be subject to the same type of treatment in the west, as religious minorities do in the muslim world. I wrote "muslims", because it concerns everyone with muslim background, believers, doubters and even non-believers.

    Hilarious tweet by Tom Holland

    Quote
Should Anjem Choudary be found guilty, the Qur'an is very clear on the penalty for "formenting corruption on the earth": crucifixion.
