    Surely theologically people of the book do not need to revert to Islam as they are all ready on the right path? And it is illogical as it reduces the taxable base!

    Why?
    When you are a Bear of Very Little Brain, and you Think of Things, you find sometimes that a Thing which seemed very Thingish inside you is quite different when it gets out into the open and has other people looking at it.

    They don't have to convert for fear of death. On the right path doesn't mean you've walked the path. That's being a muslim.
