You have an overdeveloped sense of ability to impact person of faith.
I know couple of atheists from email discussions with them. They were kindly and respectful. People of faith could learn much from them. One shared his very difficult story to tell with me. I was moved to tears, and nearly 12 years later, my eyes still well-up in recalling. You are nowhere near their fine character and expressions.
Regards, Joseph
dear Joseph., I never even in my dreams want to influence others by my posts. I am NOT a religious preacher., I follow NO religion except the
"Golden Rule" and that one rule is good enough for me as long as I live. I sincerely apologize if I hurt your feelings in any way.,
It is wonderful to note that there are grownup folks who are very sensitive and tear up to listening to real life stories of other folks but my tears have dried away long time ago,
No more tears in this life. So I live my life in very practical way and I am fairly certain about where I came from and where I go. I certainly do not like to write/tell my story to make readers cry., There is enough in the news that i post in to the forum.,
I am one of those guys that don't look for god/gods...allah..whatever BUT I LOOK FOR GODLINESS IN EVERY SPECIES OF LIFE. For e.g. I consider this buffalo in this tube that saved baby buffalo from lions and crocodiles is godly
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AuWqJkbu-X4and it is far better than any god of any religious book.. Please watch carefully., there is only one buffalo that acts fearlessly among 100s of them..
The other thing I am very certain about is the bookish god/gods of every religion is nothing but bullshit . Anyways a Psychology student linked this Korean paper in his assignment .. let me share it with you..
Association between
religiosity/spirituality and quality of life or depression among living-alone elderly in a South Korean city.Moon YS1, Kim do H.
Asia Pac Psychiatry. 2013 Dec;5(4):293-300.....
This study investigated the effects of religiosity and spirituality on quality of life and depression among older people.
METHODS:
Two hundred and seventy-four solitary elderly people aged over 65 years living in Chuncheon city, South Korea were selected. Symptoms of depression were evaluated using the Short Geriatric Depression Scale-Korean version (SGDS-K) and quality of life was measured using Geriatric Quality of Life-Dementia (GQOL-D). We used the Duke Religion Index (DUREL) to assess religiosity and spirituality.
RESULTS:There was a significant correlation between scales of depression (SGDS-K), quality of life (GQOL-D), and scale of religiosity/spirituality (DUREL) in older people. Depressed people had a lower score GQOL-D than non-depressed people. Among the depressed, those believing in a religion had a higher GQOL-D score than the non-religious. Multiple regression analysis revealed that
religiosity and spirituality had significant effects on depression and quality of life among the elderly. Interestingly, religiosity and spirituality were not related to depression and quality of life amongst Buddhists, but were related amongst Protestants and Catholics.DISCUSSION:
Religiosity and spirituality had significant effects on depression and on quality of life among the Korean elderly. However, there are different relationships between depression and religiosity, quality of life, and religiosity based on different religions. More research is needed to elucidate these findings
.
Very realistic and interesting observation.. I am sure you know
spirituality of an individual exploring the unknown is different from religions and organized religions. Again my apologies if I hurt your feeling by writing something you seem to be very sensitive ..
with best wishes
