Saudi student dies after being assaulted near US university says BBC news

The photo of Hussain Saeed Alnahdi was released by his university

    Quote
A Saudi student at the University of Wisconsin-Stout has died after being assaulted by an unidentified man. Hussain Saeed Alnahdi, 24, was attacked on Sunday outside Topper's Pizza in downtown Menomonie, Wisconsin, near his university.
Local media reported police found Mr Alnahdi unconscious and bloodied. He died on Monday.

The motive of the crime is unclear and police have asked for any information about a possible assailant. The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported the suspect was a white male, about 6ft.  According to a statement on Facebook by the university, Mr Alnahdi, was in his third year of studies pursuing business administration.

University chancellor Bob Meyer said: "Our deepest sympathies, thoughts and prayers go out to Hussain's family in Buraydah, Saudi Arabia, and his friends at UW-Stout."
The Minnesota Council on American Islamic relations said in a tweet they were  "monitoring" the death of Mr Alnahdi.

    Quote
As for Hutson, he's trying to think about the guy with the ready smile who was "very open and accepting". The two became roommates in August of last year and a friendship quickly developed, Hutson said.

When Alnahdi first moved in he could barely speak any English, but they were "all amazed how fast he learned."

And Hutson, and his other four roommates learned from him as well.

    Quote
"He often considered myself and our other roommates as his family," Hutson said. "He was there for us when we needed him most. He is one of the best friends I've ever had and life will be a little darker without him here to light it up. If I ever spoke to someone that thought negatively of Saudis or Muslims I would tell them they needed to speak to Hussain and they would feel differently. We came from different worlds, but he showed me every day how much we had in common. He was my brother and I'll never forget him."

No, it is not common here to be beaten to death. If it were, I would know someone this had happened to, having lived all over. Shootings, car accidents, illness- yes. Death by beatings in the Midwest, not so common.

Don't let Hitler have the street.
