  • Amsterdam ex-muslims?
     OP - January 06, 2018, 11:44 PM

    Hello everyone,
New here and looking to meet with ex-muslims in Amsterdam.

A bit about myself...I grew up Christian and remained practicing until around 18 years old, tried Shia-ism for about 5 years, switched to relaxed Sunni-ism for 4 years, then disavowed Shia and Sunni religions and followed only Qur'an (no hadith, ie Quranist style Islam) for about 3 years, then I decided to challenge the scientific statements made by the Qur'an; much to my surprise they proved false and I decided to accept reality and quit Islam altogether.

It was a deep and involving journey, I learned a lot and Islam in the various forms I practiced did help me very much (especially Quranism), so I hold no malice towards what I experienced nor towards moderate versions of the religion....it was just time for me to admit that the one thing holding me to believe that the book being holy, was actually factually incorrect.

So I'm here in Amsterdam wondering if there are any ex-muslims wanting to grab a coffee Smiley

I'm not from Amsterdam but welcome anyway.

When you were a Quranist did you participate in the freeminds online forum?

    https://free-minds.org/forum/index.php

I'm curious to know what your thoughts were of it and your thoughts now.

    Thanks for the welcomes guys!
When I was a Quranist I had a distinct distaste for the discourse, methodology, and logical fallacies I saw people following on FreeMinds.  In fact I still regard many of the studies done on that website to be of shoddy make, especially if we take it from the perspective of assuming the Quran is holy....however some studies make more sense when viewed from a non-believing perspective.

It is not to say I did not learn something from dissecting the studies I found on FreeMinds, I certainly did, but mostly about how people can establish theories on thin evidence or jumps in logic; and then convince so many others with those theories.

Anyhow thanks again for the welcome, and perhaps I might go there (as well) to look for ex-muslims in Amsterdam.

    Welcome. parrot

`But I don't want to go among mad people,' Alice remarked.
`Oh, you can't help that,' said the Cat: `we're all mad here. I'm mad.  You're mad.'
`How do you know I'm mad?' said Alice.
`You must be,' said the Cat, `or you wouldn't have come here.'

Is this thread still viable? Two Amsterdammer ex-Muslims Yazzy and Akki? You lot want to add Anti-bullshit to your coffee grabbing thingy? If it's still open that is. Let me know via pm is also possible.

Tired of the bull-shit. I write my own doctrines.
