Lebanese Progressive political reformer  Lokman Slim is Murdered

    Quote
BEIRUT: A prominent Lebanese publisher and vocal critic of Hezbollah was found shot dead in his car on Thursday morning, a brazen killing that sparked fears of a return to political violence in this country gripped by social and economic upheaval.

The body of 58-year-old Lokman Slim, a long-time Shia political activist and researcher, was slumped over on the passenger seat with multiple wounds from gunshots fired at close range, security and forensic officials said.

According to AP, Slim had been missing for hours since late Wednesday and his family posted social media messages looking for him.

To his friends, Slim was a fearless critic of Lebanon’s powerful politicians, Hezbollah and its allies Iran and Syria, and a major resource on the history of Lebanon’s civil war. His killing raised fears that Lebanons political tensions could turn into a new wave of assassinations...

but is  Maryam Rajavi is the leader of MEK?

...For the US, the rebranded version of the group is the best alternative to fight against Iran, and Rajavi has been leading an expensive propaganda campaign through events at which she aims to attract more supporters. The group’s supporters often make appearances in front of buildings where Iranian officials are attending political gatherings outside of Iran. The group advertises itself as the ‘popular opposition’, but the fact is that it is "almost universally despised among Iranians both inside the country and in the diaspora."...

zeca  is Maryam Rajavi connected to MEK??

Yes. She's its leader, or acting leader. As with everything about the MEK the story is very strange. According to wiki:

    Quote
Massoud Rajavi (Persian: مسعود رجوی‎, born 18 August 1948 – disappeared 13 March 2003) is the leader of the People's Mujahedin of Iran (MEK), alongside Maryam Rajavi, to whom he is married. After leaving Iran in 1981, he resided in France and Iraq. He disappeared in the 2003 invasion of Iraq and it is not known whether he is still alive.
    ...
Shortly after the Iraq War, Massoud Rajavi disappeared. His whereabouts remain unknown. In his absence, Maryam Rajavi has assumed his responsibilities as leader of the MEK. In 2011 the NCRI posted an article which described Rajavi as being "in hiding", but that has not been independently verified. The MEK have issued statements to claim that Massoud Rajavi is still alive.

Of course I know who Maryam Rajavi is. If there's one thing that unites the rest of the opposition to the Iranian regime (good, bad or indifferent) it's their opposition to Maryam Rajavi and the MEK.

If you like you can look up Maryam Namazie's views on the MEK.

Lokman Slim ‘may have been tortured’ before he was assassinated: Family

Prominent Lebanese activist and Hezbollah critic Lokman Slim “may have been tortured” before he was assassinated, his sister told Al Arabiya on Friday, one day after her brother was found shot dead. The [coroner’s report] I received says that there were six bullets in his body, and that he was bleeding, and it appears they may have tortured him before killing him,” Rasha al-Ameer said.

She also described the report as “very basic,” adding that the family had requested the report in order to be allowed to move the corpse from a morgue in the Sidon public hospital to a morgue at a private hospital in Beirut, where Slim’s family lives.

“We’ve requested from a pathologist [an autopsy] to get additional information on what he thinks happened, and the time of death,” his sister added.

I casually looked in to this wiki   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christianity_in_the_Middle_East  says om population of Christians in Middle east

    Quote
    Total population
    12–15 million (2011)
    Regions with significant populations

     Egypt   10,000,000
     Lebanon   1,500,000
     Syria   850,000–950,000
     Cyprus   793,000
     Iran   369,000–370,000
     Iraq   300,000
     Israel   180,000
     Jordan   175,000–400,000
     Turkey   120,000
     Palestine   50,000
     Bahrain   1,000
     Kuwait   400
     Yemen   <100
     Qatar   <10
     Saudi Arabia   0
     United Arab Emirates   0
     Oman   0

assuming those number are right ...  It appear if 12 to 15 million  Christians  moved out of that area ., it will solve all the problems of these scoundrels who use Islamism for their politics .. and hope  western interference will stop in these countries..

MEK are at least opposed to the Iran, Assad, Hezbollah axis, which rules them out for this particular crime, and it's hard to see how anyone could even consider plausibly accusing them of involvement.

The exact nature of Hezbollah's involvement is another question.

Lebanon’s multi-faith service for slain activist touches off row   says news  Lokman Slim

BEIRUT: Activists hold up pieces of paper with words in Arabic, ‘zero fear’, during a memorial service on Thursday to pay tribute to Lokman Slim, a publisher and activist who was found dead in his car last week.—Reuters

    Quote
BEIRUT: A multi-faith memorial service for Lebanese activist Lokman Slim, who was killed last week, triggered a row on Thursday after a Shia cleric was attacked on social media for taking part. Slim, an academic and leading secular voice from the Shia community, was routinely criticised and often threatened over his stance against the powerful Shia movement Hezbollah. The service, broadcast live by several channels, included a reading from the Quran and hymn-singing. It was attended by friends, family and diplomats, including US ambassador Dorothy Shea.

Many praised the service as an expression of co-existence between Lebanon’s many sects but it also invited criticism.

Ali al-Khalil, the Shia cleric who read the Quran, came under attack on social media from Hezbollah loyalists and later apologised for attending the event.

“I apologise to all brothers and sisters who watched me on television channels I should not have appeared on,” Khalil said in a video widely circulated online.

“I should not have... put myself in a position that invites suspicion.

“My (political) orientation is known,” he said, referring to his support for the Iran-backed Hezbollah. Activists on social media saw the apology as further evidence of the kind of pressure the movement exerts on dissenters or anyone perceived as cosying up to its enemies.

“They made him apologise because he prayed for Lokman Slim,” the BlogBaladi activist page said on Facebook, referring to the Shia group. Christian supporters of the Hezbollah-allied Free Patriotic Movement also objected to the service, but for different reasons.

Progressive thinkers must put the faith heads  where they belong on every forum .. within home... with in town... with in state and with in a country.,  otherwise such murders will continue for ever....
