politicians are a duplicitous bunch but it's not unfair to hold a special contempt for those who play their own personal heritage/faith card.

as far as I can tell, hassan only hates hell. I doubt there is much of a consistuency for ex-muslims, agnostic muslims or flying spaghetti monster muslims.
