     OP - October 17, 2008, 08:52 AM

So what are your favourite religion related quotes?

(forgive me if there is already a thread on this, I did a search and found nothing  whistling2)

    I have quite a few...

"You're basically killing each other to see who's got the better imaginary friend" - Richard Jeni

"George Bush says he speaks to god every day, and christians love him for it. If George Bush said he spoke to god through his hair dryer, they would think he was mad. I fail to see how the addition of a hair dryer makes it any more absurd." - Unknown

"I distrust those people who know so well what God wants them to do because I notice it always coincides with their own desires." Susan B. Anthony

I like the last one particularly because it relates so well to my mother, who always has 'spiritual feelings' and 'dreams' that mean something or the other Roll Eyes

Umm, yes. About that search..................I can point you to a very nice temporary archive. whistling2

Anyway those quotes are great. One of my favourites is the one in my sig of course. I can't remember where I found it but it sums things up pretty well.

Devious, treacherous, murderous, neanderthal, sub-human of the West. bunny

Cheesy I love the Deja Moo one. I think I once read a whole list of the different Dejas online, but the deja moo one was different - something like the feeling that you've seen that cow before :p

A mate of mine invented vuja de. That's the feeling that nothing like this has ever happened before.

    Quote
The most preposterous notion that H. sapiens has ever dreamed up is that the Lord God of Creation, Shaper and Ruler of all the Universes, wants the saccharine adoration of His creatures, can be swayed by their prayers, and becomes petulant if He does not receive this flattery. Yet this absurd fantasy, without a shred of evidence to bolster it, pays all the expenses of the oldest, largest, and least productive industry in all history.
The second most preposterous notion is that copulation is inherently sinful.

    R.A.H.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I remain.

For example if Jesus is called Masih in Arabic, it should means that Jesus used to wipe things with his hands, it can never mean that someone wiped Jesus with something, I can elaborate further regarding this technical issue if you wish

    Just some dead geezer.

I don't know Wales south of Aberystwyth, but north of there the countryside is ravishing. Within 10 miles of where I live we have rolling farm land, starting on my back door step; fantastic white sandy beaches, one mile away; rugged granitic/metamorphic cliffs with lighthouses (google southstack); waterfalls up to 200 ft and the ex-glacial mountains of Snowdonia and the National Park.
The further you get from England, the more picturesque it becomes.
