I would say Saudi, Iran, Pakistan and Afghanistan is where you'll find a high prevalence of these types of views and apart from Saudi this a rather recent phenomenon.

Dont make the mistake of assuming people are the same everywhere, there are specific reasons for the rise of fundamentalism.
