    Women's hands 'harbour more bugs'

    Human skin harbours many bacteria

    Women have a greater range of different types of bacteria on the palms of their hands than men, US research suggests.

    The study also found that human hands harbour far higher numbers of bacteria species than previously thought.

    Using powerful gene sequencing techniques, researchers found a typical hand had roughly 150 different species of bacteria living on it.

    The Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences study found bacteria types varied greatly between individuals.

    yes, you wash with anti-bacterial, but did you know that bacteria are becoming resistant to that?

    Maybe we have more bacteria because we get stuck with all the dirty jobs.  Nappy changing, food preperation, cleaning.  Oh what fun.

    Mind you the way men are always cupping themselves you'd think they would take the award for dirtiest hands.  bunny

    I love that anti bacterial stuff that you get down the hospital. You just whack it on your hands, rub them and its all gone dry even though the stuff you put on it was wet.

    They only studied 51 people, FFS.  What kind of a representative sample is that?  This will probly show up on AgainstScience's web site now as proof of something about women in the Qur'an. Cheesy

    What is cupping?

    Think codpiece=hand. It's like sucking a dummy for comfort or smoking a pipe for the same reason. Must release the old pleasure endorphins, I guess.
    On a different level, it may be more to do with keeping a sweaty scrotum at the optimum temp for sperm maintenance by manual assistance though.
