    I heard a stat during the campaign that 95% of Black Americans were voting for Obama but don't quote me on that.

    Who knows maybe 95% of Black Americans were already democrat voters.

    Anyway I have a feeling this will be one of the shortest political honeymoons in history.

    As soon as another financial institution starts creaking or the GM-Chrysler merger goes ahead with a resulting loss of thousands of jobs people will be turning to Obama and saying 'Ok, what are you gonna do about it?'

    I don't think that is the full extent of it but there certainly would have been at least a large number of African Americans who voted for Obama purely for this reason.  Obama is also very charasmatic and an excellent public speaker, especially when compared to McCain (although his conceding speech was really rather good.)  What actually concerns me is that because some voters will have voted for him based on his race it will detract slightly from the milestone of electing their first black president.

    Yes but it will only detract if it's known for a fact that the deciding votes were cast because of his skin colour. If that is not known it cannot detract.   parrot

    Seriously Dio, what have I said that is personal? That you're a catholic? We know that. That you are sometimes hypocritical when looking at other faiths, slinging mud when you are equally guilty of wild beliefs. We know that, and we can all be a bit hypocritical at times. Big deal. The only other point is that I was baiting you about that ridiuculous quote you gave smearing Obama as a racist and until you back it up with the quote, it stands. This is no more personal than going up to a Chelsea fan and saying 'you are a chelsea fan and your team wears blue.' The Chelsea fan would only be upset if being associated with Chelsea was embarrassing. So if you take it personally, it's you're fault for falling for all that bible stuff it in the first place, not me.

    You meanwhile get personal with your 'Obama lover' comments, when you can see VERY plainly this not the case. Pah!

    Oh there's all that on Rapture Ready as well, dressed up in Biblical metaphors, "the Jews have elected King Saul", etc.  Funny how they blame the Joooz when someone they don't like wins, and then cast themselves as friends of Israel.  Anti-Semitic Zionists..... wacko  Weird.

    Well, let´s all just wait and see, how he copes now. He won, fair and square, and he can hardly be worse than Bush was. I´ll put my doubts and reservations on hold.

    The guy is a politician, anything he says should be taken with a grain(or a whole shaker) of salt.

    His supporters are just as rabid as McCain's were.

    They want change in the government, and they want it now. Unfortunately most think all the promises made will take effect as soon as he is sworn in.

    If he repairs some of the fuck-ups Bush and his cronies made in the next four years, good for him. I hope he does well, if not, the next president of the United States may well be a one-armed, blind, syphilitic, marmoset, with delusions of godhood, or Ross Perot.

    That's funny, in the Qur'an the yahood do not want Saul (Talut) for their king, they want someone with money and power. IIRC their current prophet (I forget his name, I don't think it's mentioned in the text of Qur'an, just in the commentary. Samuel?) has to convince them, that Saul is chosen by God to lead them. I wonder how that differs from the biblical narrative.

    @awais.x - its a very weird phenomenon.  Israel has some significance in their End Timer bullshit fantasies, so they support Israel to the hilt.  In fact they abuse the Israeli government for not being aggressive enough towards the Palestinians.  But at the same time, they hate and fear Jews just as much as any neo - nazi does.  If anything, they have slightly more regard for the Arabs because some Arabs are Christian. wacko

    I bet someone will try between now and Jan 20.  But I also bet they don't succeed.  The first black President in the US will probly also be the most protected President in the US, at least if the authorities have any sense.  After all, if Cheetah and MSingh on an internet forum can predict it, the FBI should be able to also.

    I wouldn't break out the champagne on that score just yet, as there is speculation of Sarah Palin running for president in 2012 - although if that is the "Reagan" conservatives are hoping for after 4 years of Obama, I wouldn't bet against him serving a full 8 year term.
