When a christian asks you if you're muslim but you dont know what to say and how you can explain the concept of atheism to them, even if you do there is still a problem

Most christians in Nigeria are not aware of atheism and other religions, only Islam and Christianity.

When a convert takes a look at your name and asks if you're a Muslim, before telling you that they've converted.

So far, I've never been sure how to reply other than to mumble 'not really' and 'good for you', as non-commitally as possible..

You don't believe that a merciful Allah would torment the rest of the humanity in hell for not being born in a muslim family

You can't seem to find a justification for a 54 year old man sleeping with a 9 year old girl

You think what's gonna be the reaction of my friends if they know what's going on inside my mind

You stop believing in all kinds of supernatural

You try to avoid giving replies to Salam

You say DAMN when words like Inshallah and Alhamdulillah slip through your tongue

You giggle inside when you hear, Islam is the religion of peace

I've mastered not automatically saying salam in person, but for whatever reason it slips out on the phone.

I wish parents everywhere could remove their veil of religion and see their kids for whom they actually are.

You find it incredibly difficult to utter a 'mashallah' or 'alhamdulillah' or the like.
  • Re: You know you're an ex muslim when......

Mashallah and Alhamdulillah only come out in the ultra religious groups...i want to say inshallah a lot though. i try and say hopefully but inshallah carries that power that i dunno is very hard to get away from Smiley

At this moment i have accept to live with that.but i only do it out of courtesy for muslims and i rarely say "mashaallah". Insha-allah is the one i uttered most.

Why does it say there is no compulsion in religion, when
muslims force their kids to go to madrassas, and FORCE
their kids to be muslims and take shahada, and put serious
fear in their hearts if they dont? And abuse them, threaten
them, force them to believe they are possessed with jin, etc.

Kind of odd to take that line seriously, "there's no compulsion in religion" when if you don't believe in said religion or believe in a different religion, you burn in hell. It's like a parent saying, "Look, you don't HAVE to eat your vegetables, but if you don't I'll break your skull with my knuckles. No pressure though".

-When you laugh when you hear Muslims saying music is haraam. Well that's just so sad at the same time.  Cry
(not to mention so fucking stupid and mean and wrong to deprive humanity from one of the most amazing things)
-When, as a woman, you go out after maghrib time, alone! Oh noez!  Cheesy

Using soap with gelatin in it!  Cheesy

Eating food prepared at restaurants with alcohol!  Cheesy
    (where the alcohol evaporates anyway!)

(thankfully, my family is not that extreme. well, the second one they disapprove of but not that strict on)

Yes, stuff cooked with white wine for example has an added complexity. It's like having a soup or a soup made with a stock.

It depends on whether you like the taste of wine and stuff because sometimes it permeates stronger in one meal than another. Sometimes it's kinda nasty to be honest, sometimes you can barely taste a hint of it.

But that wasn't my point. My point was people thinking it's wrong to use alcohol in cooking in the first place, not whether it tastes good or not.  Smiley

Which reminds me when i was 18, some of my dad's colleague who were russians used to send a christmas gift to him every year including the wine(use for cooking). So one day my dad gives me the bottles and told me to return it back to them.

When i went to return it back to the first one, he couldnt help but laugh, i was confused trying to know whats so funny and then he said that this wine is use for cooking to make the food more crispier and tasty, besides the alcohol evaporates and leaves no trace of it.

Not wanting to be embarrased i gave the remainings to my friends who wants to get drunked.

When every ex-Muslim you meet is suddenly your bff!

When you roll your eyes when someone says "Islam is a religion of peace/love/tolerance!"

When you get an irrational urge to defend Christianity, Hinduism, and Baha'ism when talking to Muslims... ("My enemy's enemy is my friend"!)

When you participate in EDMD Tongue

When it's really hard to stop yourself from laughing when talking to a Muslim and they say something exceptionally stupid ("But if we came from monkeys, why are there still monkeys?", "See what happens when you follow science, philosophy and rationality :(" -- the last one was said to me disapprovingly very seriously.)

When you correct Muslims' grammar in Arabic just to show them they can't have a monopoly on the language Smiley
