If it brings her comfort, what's the problem? Hijabis are cute. Tongue

I chose to get circumcised at 17, don't tell me I never believed.

Nothing tastes better than chicken yes

I honestly think chicken is overrated. Sure it's tasty but I think it's over loved.

I personally feel meat is overrated, I prefer veg. Although beef is great yes Might even be better than chicken.

The problem is that she isn't free, she is not in control of her choices, she does not see.

I would wear a hijab if it was the latest line of winter headwear to keep us warm, if the only motivation was the warmth, the fashionable aspect of it, but it saddens me to see it being used for religious purposes that are only motivated by mans desire to control and subjugate women.

Anyway I'm not expecting you to understand awais, your still way more emotionally attached to Islam than I am.  Wink

Inhale the good shit, exhale the bullshit.

Maybe I'm just not as bitter about it as you are. Tongue

I could understand your argument if I were in the middle east and it's expected that they wear it, or they're harassed for not doing so. But what about hijabis in 'The West', US, UK, Canada, etc.; even better, what about convert hijabis who wear it despite their family's dislike for it?

Some of them will still be forced to wear it.

I always get the feeling that there is an underlying fear of hell in these decisions no matter how much people try and paint it over with 'love of God' as an excuse.

Why, did you ever need to wear a hijab?  infact for fun you should put one on in the midst of summer and wear it all day, do shopping, carry groceries, and come home and see how much it's a non issue afterwards.

I never wore hijab because of fear.  As far as I knew / know, the hadiths about hanging form your hair and so on are fabricated.  It was never really a concern for me, anyway.  I didn't wear it because I wanted to show "my identity!" either like a lot of young women do.  I did wear it because I thought I was showing love to the sky guy.  That was my reality.  Not an excuse - my scarf wearing reality.

You know you're an ex muslim when...

You see a 'sister' wearing a new style of hijab and you think to yourself, 'Gee, I gotta try that one out... No wait!  I don't wear hijab anymore!'.

You automatically say 'Bismillah' whenever you pick up your friend's baby or start the car.

You have 'mashallah' moments, i.e. seeing the newly born moon right before it sets.

Cheesy OMG, I had one of these moments the day I went to the ex muslim meet up.  My 15yr old sister wears a hijab, and she had it on in the most awesome style, and for a split second I really wanted to try it out.  Cheesy

Not sure Im an ex Muslim... yet...but here are my contributions:

You know your a soon to be ex Muslim when:

    1. You no longer clock watch all day to be sure the time hasnt passed to perform the latest prayer.
    2. You think of prayer mats more as designs for the sitting room then for prayer.
    3. You dont quite get all sensitive and touchy when the Quran is left lying somewhere "unclean".
    4. You dont get all sensitive and touchy when Mohammed is mentioned in a less then favorable light.
    5. You get tired of "defending" Islam to all non Muslims and just sit quietly while others take over.
    6. You get tired of rationalizing Islam to yourself and no longer make the effort.
    7. You spend more time thinking about ways you do not agree with Islam than ways in which you do

I actually hang them on the wall as works of art...some prayer mats are just beautiful...too pretty for my sinning forhead to taint thats for sure.  Wink

I still keep my pretty prayer mat (sujaada) where I had it when I was using it, even dust it off. It's still pretty, though I'm not using it; reminds me of my pious days.

In those days piety was defined by how threadbare & worn out your prayer mat was, not how good you were

So was my dads.  Mine was wore out on the knees, but not the forehead, I just hated the thought of ending up with the mark of piety on my head, guess I was lacking the final piety factor.  Roll Eyes

You know you're an ex muslim when......

you really begin to enjoy stress-free farting.

you can go sleep without wudu after rumpy-pumpy and not get a guilt trip.

you make up your own words to the salah when forced to participate in communal prayers.

you are better at quoting which book of sahih bukhari a particular hadith comes from than your local imam.
