Thank you guys
I have a thing with speeches, where it comes of either too childish or too serious. I had this episode in secondary school, when I had to step up for my group, in order to receive a trophy we had won for a comprehensive project. I was to prepare this speech the night before, but had fallen into my usual habit of hanging around and doing nothing. So when I had to improvise a speech, I ended up thanking my "bitches" and "niggers" (meaning my group) for our "little thaang". Another time, I was walking towards the stage, planning to be witty in a more mature way. That was until I turned around and realized that the modest gathering of pupils and parents had magically turned into what seemed like a packed Notre Dame. I dried up and delivered the most nerve dulling and monotone speech ever. That was my misfortunes with speeches!
But to my actual speech: I would like to thank the likes of Hassan, Jila, Happymurtad, Stardust, Ishina, Billy, Alethia and many more for keeping me online. This more or less is the only forum I've lasted in for longer than a week without ever feeling blasé or bored. It's those Pascal referred to as "made so they cannot believe" that intrigue me. Those who stand out, contraire and think for themselves. Now here I have a whole bunch of you guys, way too aware of the ironies of life to surrender to the literalism of religion. So to call myself the POTM on a forum like this, is..prepare yourself for a some tired and overused cliché.. an honour!
