"Briton fears losing her children after Dubai adultery conviction"

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worldnews/article-1102295/Briton-fears-losing-children-Dubai-adultery-conviction.html

...."A British mother faces jail in Dubai after being convicted of adultery.

Marnie Pearce fears she may never see her two sons again. She insists she is innocent and that it is her ex-husband who cheated on her........

"I feel I've been ignored by the courts because I'm a woman."

Thats what you get for marrying a Muslim and living in a Muslim country. Lets hope you never make the same mistake again.  idiot2

What's up with this "hah, there you go, that ought to teach you a lesson" attitude?  people make mistakes, lording it over them with high and mighty "I told you so's" isn't going to make it better.

She made a mistake, mocking her as if you have never made a mistake only makes you feel mighty and doesn't really change a damn thing.

    Wot she said.

Plus, while such things do, no doubt, happen in muslim countries, I am suspicious of any Islam-related story in the Daily Mail.  Do you have a less biased source on the details of this case?

I have no sympathy for idiots.

This story should be a warning to all women. Marry a muslim in a muslim state then kiss good bye to all your rights. You are no longer a human being. You are a possession to be bought and sold.

If you don't like the mail the here is the telegraph take on the article.

Animation Guy, have you got any source for this story that doesn't involve a right wing rag which constantly casts muslims as the Grinch who stole Christmas?

I didn?t expect to find so many Muslim lovers on an ex-Muslim forum. Expose a little Muslim stupidity and everyone come running to defend the faith.  Amazing. It?s seems some people can?t let go.

What did you expect?  that with our turning away from the religion we would then turn on our friends and family who are still muslim, and start slating them so that you would find us acceptable?

A bit of common sense could have told you that wouldn't be the case.  Roll Eyes

I mean you post a topic about a poor woman who might never get her kids back because of Islam and yet you expect us to attack her character for the fun of it, even though many of us know and understand her plight and sympathise with it.

This is the wrong place for what you have in mind.

Nobody has defended the faith.  Your sources have been described as unreliable, and your lack of sympathy for women in muslim countries has been criticised.

Now do you have any source for this story that doesn't involve a paper with a history of demonising muslims, or not?

Perhaps you would be more suited to another forum like jihadwatch where your immature ridiculing of a woman in a personal crisis would fit right in.

If you lived with someone who believed the world was flat or the moon was made from cheese then would you not ridicule him or her for their belief? Just because it?s your friends and family doesn?t make it ok.

Just because you don?t share their politics  you aren?t prepared to believe them? You sound like a Muslim.

Well the BBC are also posting the same story!

Snowflake, your postings are worrying.  It is not clear that you should be a moderator on this forum!  Someone posts a story and rather then discussing it you attack the poster.

No, TomTom.  Questioning a source which I have previously found to be unreliable, especially on any subject to do with muslims, is not an attack on the poster who used it.

And having read your source, it looks like I was right.  A couple of details not made clear in the Mail...

    Quote
I want them [the British embassy] to get my children out now. They are British citizens, my family can take them for me... this is going to be a matter of a few weeks," she told the BBC.

"I'm handing over their guardianship to my family. They are still in my custody, I have the right to nominate someone to take my children."

    Quote
Miss Pearce, who is staying with a friend, has been banned from leaving the Arab state while she is on bail pending her appeal.

So her situation is not quite as hopeless as the Mail made it seem, then.  Hopefully the British Embassy will do their job and stand up for her.

People make bad decisions all the time ,often with the best of intentions.

We are annoyed at your posts because  this isn't the same as you ribbing someone because they believe in santa claus. This is somebody who is about to possibly serve a jail sentence and lose their kids.  Get some perspective and show some respect.

I feel sorry for the woman  and the British Embassy's job is to ensure the woman has proper council.

The Embassy is not allowed to mix in local legal affairs, if the woman is treated fairly and following the local laws, they cannot do more.

As for animation_guy, he is not alone in his point of view, see the post below from Germany! If there are woman entering marriage knowing all the risks, then when it all goes wrong, some part of the responsibility must fall upon them.

Too often women do not a choice, Mrs Pearce did have that choice!

    http://www.humanrights-geneva.info/German-judge-justifies-wife,1389

26 March 07 - A decision by a court in Germany regarding a divorce case has ignited a wide polemic. Germans are asking themselves whether religious belief and self-censorship have created a dual system of justice.
Yves Petignat - Does the law have a different application for Muslims in Germany? Last week a judge in Frankfurt cited a Sura (verse) from the Koran in a divorce proceeding filed by a German woman of Moroccan origin, who had been beaten by her husband. The judge was removed from the case and her decision made public.

The matter has ignited a violent polemic, revealing how far self-censorship has impregnated German society with regard to Islam. Fears are mounting of a dual system of justice based on cultural origins, thus reinforcing closed communities. Islamic organizations themselves have deplored ?this disservice to Muslim integration?.

The 26-year old woman, mother of two children, had filed a demand for protection to the court after having been brutally beaten on many occasions by her husband who criticized her western ways. Initially, the judge ordered the husband to leave the conjugal premises and forbade him to come any closer than 50 meters. When the young woman, in fear of her life, filed for a fast-track divorce, the same judge opposed it. According to the law, the court may grant divorce in cases of extreme brutality, rather than wait the usual one year period of reflection.

It doesn't really matter how many people think she was an idiot and "asking for trouble". She may have been blinded by infatuation or she may just be feeble minded.

I have no idea what the reasoning was for her to get married and live in Egypt to a guy who turns out to be an arse ( assuming her side of the story is correct).

She isnt the only western woman to marry an arab and live in their country, and most have normal married lives.

Of course if it all goes tits-up like it did here it's bloody easy for us to say she should have known better but frankly, in life, people make choices that may seem great in the short term without thinking hard enough about all eventualities.

Gorgeous Buildings, people who speak good English, all the modern trappings, everything pointing to a progressive society that a Westerner could be enamored with. However beneath all that veneer..

Exactly  Afro, wihout some indepth research, which suffice to say is hardly the done thing in a new love, how was she to know that all the crap she was being fed wasn't real?

I hardly know anyone who does thorough research on their partners promises, They say "love is blind" for a god damn reason.

Some do the research though. Apparently the men over there are complaining that there is a severe lack of women. So as long as they keep treating women & foreigners like dirt, they can continue to build and live in their sausage towers and attend sausage clubs and download porn.
