US actor Tom Cruise, one of Scientology's best-known adherents, says he overcame the effects of his dyslexia thanks to the church's teachings.
In an interview with the weekly XL Semanal magazine supplement of daily Spanish newspaper ABC, Cruise says he was illiterate when he graduated from high school in 1980.
The 46-year-old says he learned to read as an adult using a method conceived by Scientology's late founder L Ron Hubbard.
The Church of Scientology, founded in 1954 in the United States by science-fiction writer Hubbard, teaches that technology can expand the mind and help solve problems.
