  • Exams over! Trip to Egypt
     OP - January 19, 2009, 07:14 PM

I had my last make-up exam today, it was actually great, and I feel totally light and carefree right now! I'll be taking a trip to Egypt soon, I'll see the pyramids and the ancient monuments, hopefully do some scuba diving in the Red Sea, and do all kinds of other stuff. Yay!

Has anyone been to Egypt before? Any recommendations? Baal?

I haven't but I'm so jealous lol I really want to go egypt too.

have a smashing time though, just make sure you leave the pyramids in one piece, because I still need to see them.

Inhale the good shit, exhale the bullshit.

I've never been, but I've been told the pyramids are overrated.  Apparently you have to queue for hours, and spend a fortune.

I'll take special care to smash them into tiny pieces, then.

You mean the inner chambers? Nothing remains actually, so there's no point in entering the pyramids. We will be skipping that part.

Start with 2-4 days in cairo. Use the time to visit the pharaonic museum, then the pyramids, then the saladin castle,  then the islamic museum, then visit khan al-khalily for trinkets and a good shiha (hookah). then i recommend a cruise ship down the nile to visit the pharaonic stuff and make sure to spend the last part and the most part of your vacation on some resort on the red sea or up north in sharm el sheikh. But if you are going to be south anyways, then the red sea is highly recommended.

And do not kiss the boys or girls as 25-75% of the population is suffering from hepatitis B. Take them to a hospital and test first lol.

I think that's pretty much the vacation plan, I'll be spending a little less than two weeks in Egypt. I don't think the Islamic Museum or the Saladin castle are included though, should I see them? I'll have to sacrifice precious time for that.

I meant muhammad ali's castle not saladin.

Ya the islamic museum is worth it. For one it contains a lot of ottoman turkish stuff. And Second you will understand the artifacts better then any local yokel or a muslim would. I still remember the diplay of the viscious arrows the muslim armies used, how on the school trip we were made to be so proud that we used arrows with so many 'teeth' in them. We were told it was a sign of an advanced civilization. When in fact, adding so many teeth to your arrows, is only a sign of barbarism.

    EH...where's my post gone?

Anyway, Baal pretty much already said what I was going to say haha.

I loved Egypt, it's probably my favourite place to visit. When I went with my mother, we went to Cairo then booked a cruise trip down the Nile to Aswan, stayed there for a couple of days then took a cruise trip to Luxor, stayed there for another couple of days, and then cruise back to Cairo.

It was an amazing experience. Egypt is full of some fascinating history and I highly recommend that you don't miss out on the museums.

I remember our tour guide telling us how to pronounce "Hatchepsout" as "hot chicken soup" really fast.

I recommend taking a tour, because that way you won't miss out on anything...and they usually include transport and stuff in the tours.

Why did they call her "hot chicken soup"?

It's a touristic tour, but we will also have some spare time to see around.

Yeah, but you're gonna need one. Pay off debts and stuff. Has to be done. Has to be done.

I could lend you some if I get a job. Then I could fund you for the rest of mine and your life. How's that sound?

Spend some money that I give you. Do whatever you want. That sort of thing. Obviously you wont need to worry about essentials like a mansion, a Bugatti, that sort of thing.  Afro

    Deal?
