So basically I have exams looming, and to avoid failing my exams over the next 5 months, I need to avoid spending too much time online...

But of course, me being me, I have no self control...so I'm just going to procrastinate like crazy in here and whinge about how crappy exam period is, and how I just want to go to bed and never touch another cup of tea again.

Boooo..I have a flight test on the third of feb :(

    All the best dear.
I still miss Uni days, exam and then breaks.
Believe me, professional life is not as much fun as Uni.

Don't procrastinate. You'll regret it. You have to do the study some time so you might as well do it while you have the opportunity.

I never thought I'd say this but I wish I had exams right now hehe.. I havent been to school in almost 3 months as my University is on strike. It was nice to have a break at first, but now its just rediculously frustrating.

    A three month strike? That's not a strike. That's a holiday.

Had I known it would last this long, I wouldve booked myself a nice getaway. Or gotten a job. I'm considering dropping out entirely for the rest of the year as this is slowly driving me insane. I'll just transfer to another Uni in the fall.

I want my life back please.  wacko

Why is it on strike??  wacko

I wouldn't mind uni, but my course is driving me insane (and my bank account is rapidly disintegrating)

selfish TAs want a 15% raise and better job security despite being of the highest paid in their sector. My uni(which is already in financial crisis) made 2 offers already, both got rejected. The union isnt even trying to compromise.

I used to be the same (I did physics which probably explains why), however I remember a wise girl told me to stop talking about it, and to just do it.

I still remember that today when I fall into my usual bad ways.

Well I find with academic stuff I can generally procrastinate, cram last minute and still pull in a high mark so I tend to do it that way.

Other stuff not so much, my procrastination is so letting me down lol.

Unfortunately it is just as simple as working past it and pushing yourself to not procrastinate.  I say unfortunatly, because it's so difficult to achieve if it isn;t part of your normal personality.

One of my friends doesnt ever cram. We're all playing cards and pissing around but he'll be there, doing some questions and working hard. He's not ever got under an A. Lucky bastard

Books are the best. Especially when you know the historians, like Rosemary O'Day, John Guy, MacCullogh, Haigh, Loades, Elton. All these bad boys. But the King, the ultimate is M A R GRAVES.If only I had his fucken book I would be sorted.

Well, for what it's worth, I always found that if you've got a brain the size of a planet you've still got to do the work, however briefly. If you haven't, you've got to do the work and put in an 18 hour day. Just fucking well go for it. No prisoners.
Find a study-buddy who you respect and can work with, even if they're not your best mates-you're looking for an intellectual equal you can empathise with, with the joint aim of improving each other's grades.
Arrange to meet up at the same time each day so that you're both working to the same deadlines and that way you won't let yourself or your study partner down.
Each of you cover the revision  and then prepare Qs to ask each other on agreed topics that don't overlap for each course/section. Note where you go wrong when you meet up and grill each other and concentrate next steps on that.
    Just reiterate until perfect.
Daily aerobic exercise is brill because it keeps the old grey matter well oxygenated.
Quick crosswords are good for promoting mental agility.
Get plenty of sleep and keep a regular routine.

Procrastination is the thief of time , the old adage goes.
I used to be the worlds worst person for putting things off to the last minute.
I could never "work" properly unless I had a seriously close deadline ( ie exam <1 week away).
I'm sure it's worse with guys as often you get tied up in macho BS , not wanting to be  a "girly swot", instead wanting to be seen as so smart that you could "wing it"  and pass with hardly any study.

It nearly f$%^d up my whole career. Moral of the story- just get on with it.

We are in favor of tolerance, but it is a very difficult thing to tolerate the intolerant and impossible to tolerate the intolerable.
