  • Video editing junkies, I need help.
     OP - January 23, 2009, 07:59 PM

    Salam/Hello,

I made a video presentation for youtube. The presentation is pretty much a series of HD jpg images, which I put together in Windows Movie Maker. After I finished the movie, the end size was 1.26GB. whistling2

So I imported the video into Adobe After Effects and exported it-compressing it with H.264 encoder. Now the new size is 30 MB, but the quality is shit.

Any suggestions to keep the quality crisp for youtube and still keep the size relatively small?

Did you work out how to do it?

    "exported it-compressing"

Are you going to File > Export or Composition > Make Movie? Because you should be going to Composition > Make Movie if you want to export the final movie.

What is the dimension and length of the film? If you have Flash then you could try the Flash Video Encoder. When I've had to make presentations I always use Flash Video Encoder and then embed it into a website because I found that the uni often don't have the same Codec that I have and have problems playing movies.

You need to compress the 1.26Gb file if you still have that one. I think you compressed it too much which is why you ended up with a shit quality one (or you used a crappy programme).

    How long is the video?

I don't know anything about Windows Movie Maker as I use iMovie on a Macintosh - sorry, Tommy.

ps - iMovie is so easy a 4 year-old can do it.

tommy, If you remember the video on my site, with me in it, is around 40MB and around 3 and a half minutes long. The original uncompressed files where are around 35 to 40gigs with all the different comps on top of each other.

Oh wow, thanks for the reply people. I actually forgot about this post.

Hassan, I actually ended up spiting it as a .wmv file and uploaded that to Youtube. It's the La ilaha part 2 you saw. The quality isn't THAT bad, but it could've been better since it was made for HD quality. I don't have a Mac, or I'd be using iMovie.

A_G, thanks for the advice mate. I'll be sure to try it out that way.  Afro

Peruvian, the movie is about 6 min. long  Smiley

Thanks for the help again people!  Afro
