    'The group of vigilante men came to report that while they were on patrol they saw some hoodlums attempting to rob a car. They pursued them.

    'However one of them escaped while the other turned into a goat,'  Kwara state police spokesman Tunde Mohammed said.

    'We cannot confirm the story, but the goat is in our custody.

    'We cannot base our information on something mystical. It is something that has to be proved scientifically, that a human being turned into a goat,' he said.

    Belief in witchcraft is widespread in parts of Nigeria, Africa's most populous nation.

    Residents came to the police station to see the goat, photographed in one national newspaper on its knees next to a pile of straw.


    I was not blessed with the ability to have blind faith. I cant beleive something just because someone says its true.

    So!  Are they going to mete out punishment on the rogue goat according to Shari'ah?  I'm sure he'll make a nice goat stew for the local police.  aloofandbored0

    Monty Python could do a great trial scene for this. The goat could get done for contempt of court for refusing to answer questions. ;'D

    Heh. If you look at the photos, those goats are different!  I reckon the black & white one is the scapegoat.

    Way I heard it, the goat seduced the copper watching him and got him to unlock the cell for a bit of fun. Goat grabs the gun, shoots the copper, legs it out the door. Now he's on the lamb and every goat in the country is under suspicion. Don't these people realise how much more sense it makes that after turning into a goat, as soon as he's free he turns into a dragon and flies away? Be in England now I bet, claiming benefits. When will the government stop welcoming these foreign shape-shifting criminals into the country, putting them up in mansions paid for with my tax money. Bastards. finmad

    Not sure which story is worse, that police in Nigeria arrests goats for armed robbery or that witches in Swaziland can't fly brooms above 150 meters (for security reasons),or they'll be fined/arrested.
