    Book 001, Number 0193: Sahih muslim

    It is narrated on the authority of Abu Dharr who narrates that the Prophet (may peace be upon him) observed: Three are the persons with whom Allah would not speak on the Day of Resurrection: the bestower of gift who does not give anything but by laying obligation on him, the seller of goods who sells them by taking false oath and one who hangs low his lower garment.

    The hadiths regarding trousers can usually be found by doing a search in USC with the terms Lower and Garment.  Afro

    It's also said that what drags below the ankle drags in the hellfire. Letting the jeans go below the ankle is said to be done out of arrogance. Said to me when I was a new muslim, still wearing my baggy jeans, "Roll them up". Roll Eyes

    Funny how it took awhile for me to not care about where they were in relation to my ankles. Not applicable for females, they should be covered up! Wink

    Sorry, but I don't feel like citing 'which book' and 'narrated by who' hadith at the moment.
    I chose to get circumcised at 17, don't tell me I never believed.

    I see a lot of doctors around the hospital where I work with long beards and their trousers rolled up.  It looks rediculous!  I would NOT want one of those wackos operating on me!

    My hubby, bless him, only rolled his trousers up for prayer then unrolled them when he was done.

    I'm just saying I wouldn't want him operating on me if I had the choice.  If it were a life or death situation and the only doctor available who could operate were a Wahabbi in highwater trousers then yes, go ahead and operate! 

    I'm weary of men with long beards and rolled up trousers because a) they are most likely Wahabbi and b) I do not agree with the misogynistic and docmatic views that many of them hold.

    You're just being a userer. You'd want his help if you had no other choice but not if you did? He's not gonna judge you.
    You think that because he has a long beard and rolled up trousers he's gonna make any difference whatsoever to your operation?

    So am I, but not every short trouser wearing long beard growing man is an asshole to the women in his life, also for all you know the western looking doctor could be the one who is a secret serial killer by night.

    Think about the suicide bombers, how many of then had long beards, or short trousers?

    Does anyone know why Muslims are supposed to wear ankle length trousers ? .... I know the Indian version, would like to see if it is the same standard version throughout Islam or is Indian version corrupted

    I thought it was because women had to cover their ankles, and a man covering them was wearing female style stuff?

    Also perhaps trailing your garment was a sign of wealth back then, a show of how much you could afford to have material on your clothes, an arrogant display of wealth?  perhaps?

    Call me thick, but dont  get how you are more likely to get pee on your trousers if they are an extra inch in length?  I reckon it must be something to do with stopping interest in latest fashions, or trouser-ends being in contact with dirt on the floor?

    Ibn 'Umar reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) having said: He who trails his (lower) garment out of pride, Allah will not look toward him on the Day of Resurrection.
