  • Question for ex-Muslim atheists and/or agnostics...
     OP - February 13, 2009, 04:18 PM

If you were forced to (re)revert or be beheaded....would you play along? If I were an ex-Muslim atheist or agnostic, I would...because there would be nothing much to lose, and I'd be able to keep my head where it belongs....on my neck!

Please no jokes about where some of you think my head may be.  Cheesy

Okay...I guess I left myself open for that one....so, go ahead with the head-in-butt image....

would you feel doing that would be ethically justified in the first place?

how about i turned the tables and asked if your children were going to be brutally raped and eaten by a psychotic, what would you NOT do save them?

or how about if some nut case right wing terrorist wanted to blow up mecca, time-travel back to muhammad's era and wanted to sodomize his goats... would you save an apostate who could stop that?  grin12

I might think of reasons it would be ethically justified to save my head. For one thing, if I preserved my life, I would be able to start an under-gound resistance to protect other apostates. Or if I have a family, how can I protect them if I'm dead?

That one's a no-brainer. If I were an atheist/agnostic, I would lie to preserve their lives. As a believer, I would be tempted to do the same thing...because it is not my own life, but my childrens'.

Just to sodomize his goats? That would do nothing to stop Islam.

    Shaneequa,

If you saw Jesus dragging the Jewish people who you claim to love to Hell, for not believing in Him after they'd been tortured by Anti Christ, would you stop Jesus?

If you saw your belief proved false and the actual God being YHWH or Allah who'd drag you to Hell, would you plead with them to spare you, as you were genuinely mistaken?

I would recommend atheist-agnostic ex-Muslims to do what they have to do to save their lives.

I would not be able to. Nobody would. A word from his mouth is stronger than all the armies in the world...even the hosts of heaven.

excellent! and you're sure the Shinto are wrong about their god(s)? and the hindus too...?

what if whichever non-christian god you came across said he would have forgiven you but you pissed him/her/it off by constantly praying to the wrong god? wouldn't you change your ways here and now?

by the way, i asked you to answer my questions as a muslim/christian/theist.

As a Muslim, no. I would not let this guy travel in time to sodomize Mohammad's goats.

As a Christian, I would also not allow a man to go back in time to sodomize Mohammed's goats.

Also, as a Christian, I would have an ethical problem with time travel.

As an atheist ex-Muslim, I would want him to go back into time and warn Mohammed not to believe his voices....and tell Kadijah to stop encouraging him. If neither worked, then I would instruct that he shoot Mohammad.

Then again, out of that, a worse than Mohammad could come....so I'd have to rethink it, even as an atheist.

No....because I wouldn't know to do it in this life-time....and besides, the hindu god would reincarnate me....and I don't know about the shintu god....would he not reincarnate me too? I'd be a dallit with the former, but at least be on a pathway to "enlightenment".

What is wrong for a Christian with Time travel?

It would be a form of doubting God's sovereignty, and acting as I know better than God.

Ofcourse! I always have imagined you to be a gentleman.  Cheesy

I just do not believe sodomizing Mohammad's goats would cause any change on Mohammad. If anything, he may kill the goat-sodomizer for not first asking his permission....or for sodomizing the wrong goat.

Then again, I don't know how Mohammad felt about these things, only what some modern Shiite leaders say.

If my life was on the line, I would stand by my own principles. I wouldn't convert.

If the life of a loved one was on the line, I'd convert to save their lives.

When the two American (or were they British) reporters, converted to Islam and were set free, I did not blame them one bit. Most journalists are not born-again, and if one is not born again, it is better to whatever one can to save one's life.

A few Christians blamed them. That caused me to wonder more about the Christians than it did the reporters.

That's noble, but I hope a Christian would offer to take your place....and they would let you go.

Even a Christian wouldn't be able to. Our human blood is not holy to redeem another sinner's soul.

Hey Shan, how can you believe in god and not in Satan ? .......

go read your very own buy bull carefully and ask yourself this question: why god has killed so many more people in the bible vs satan. Btw last I check satan only killed 10 people in the whole book. god killed somewhere around 30 million.

I was not blessed with the ability to have blind faith. I cant beleive something just because someone says its true.

Who said I don't believe in Satan? Ofcourse I do. When God killed all these people, who says he didn't use Satan and the demons? Who were these "angels of death" he sent to Egypt to kill all the first-borns?
