AN alleged racist attack on a city synagogue has prompted Muslim leaders to offer help keeping the building secure.
Two men have appeared in court in connection with an incident which left windows smashed in the Newington Synagogue last week.
Ken Imrie, chairman of the Scottish Islamic Foundation, has reportedly written to Rabbi David Rose of the Edinburgh Hebrew Congregation to express "revulsion and horror" at the incident.
He reportedly said: "Such is our strength of feeling on this matter we would wish to physically guard the synagogue ourselves."
The two men have appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court and pleaded not guilty. A trial date was fixed for April 8.

(I'm referring to the muslims obviously, not the people who attacked the synagogue).
