  • I think Im on to something...lol
     OP - April 10, 2009, 11:54 AM

From time to time I have argued with Muslims (even back when I was a little/lot more into it) about having proof that Islam is in fact a bonafide religion from God...most of what is used as proof is based on the ..."cause God said so"...basis.

Recently I was talking with some Muslim ladies I know...and one of them is quite a bit more extreme then the rest and she has way more knowledge as well...and she happened to mention that there is a hadith (I believe) that says something along the lines of ....prophets bodies do not decay. God does not allow their bodies to rot and turn to dust etc....for whatever reason.

So theoretically we could go to all the graves of deceased prophets and dig them up and they would look as good as they did when they were alive...no matter how long they been in the ground....so immediately I thought of a way to prove whether Islam is correct or not (other religions can use this proof system as well)...

Lets go dig up Prophet Mohammeds grave!!!  Afro we know exactly wheres he's buried...so whats the problem? It would be proof beyond an unreasonable doubt that he was a prophet and Islam is a religion from God and we all just need to shut up and suck it up.  lipsrsealed

    Anybody with me?  yes

I know Muslims will go into fits of rage (as always) proclaiming blasphemy etc...but hey...its a small price to pay just for the ultimate prize of pointing as all the kafirs and Islam haters in the world and say...nah nah nah...told ya soooo  dance

    So?  grin12

     Cheesy That's brilliant!

Do you know what hadith it is and the source?

That would be brilliant except for one problem. Most Muslims do not believe that.

Yes, I certainly never did when I followed Islam. In fact I didn't believe a lot of the crap that muslims did. In hindsight, it's not really surprising I left Islam.

I was coming at it from the salafi angle! We used to take the piss out of the Barehlvis for believing that the prophets are alive in their graves. I don't know about their bodies being intact though.

I was never a salafi and none of us in my family believed that. Nor did anyone I spoke to at our local mosque (though I didn't exactly bring up that topic a lot).

I spoke to my mum about your question today, and she says she has heard this too.  The good news is we dont have to do anything as sacracent as digging up dead Mo.  She reckons its also true for all martyrs of Islam!

That's surprising. I didn't think Deobandis believed in that.

This is what I was taught and what everyone around me believed, most definitely.  I was Sunni, 'traditional' type.  There is a hadith narrated in Abi Dawood and other collections that the prophet (LMAO) said that Big Al has forbidden the earth from consuming the bodies of the prophets.  In addition, they teach that the prophets are alive in their grave and praying, also from the hadiths.

The Mo man said: 'Big Al has forbidden the earth from consuming the bodies of profits.' Ahmad, Ibn Abi Shaybah, Abu Dawud, Nasai, Ibn Majah, Darimi, Ibn Khuzaymah, Mustadrak, Ibn Hibban, Tabarani, Bayhaqi)

This is an example of the 'alive in their graves' thing, although reading it I can see where some might understand it to  mean something else. Also, from my Salafee days I remember that a lot of people simply did not accept other than Bukhari and Muslim, except when convenient - like the hadith they quote about hijab being from Abi Dawood, when any other time you get 'Abi Dawood has many errors, and is that hadith in Bukhari?'

I have had this story narrated to me from a medieval history, but they were Christians from North Africa. I wish I could remember the history book it was from, but I don't.  It did involve Nuradeen Zenki riding like hell through the Levant to Madinah after the plot was revealed to him in a dream by Big Al, saving the profit's (LMAO) holy body and ordering a sort of moat or channel to be dug around the masjid underground, to add an extra layer of security and prevent grave robbers from getting through.

    Look what I found:

    Incorruptibility:

    Quote
Incorruptibility is the Catholic and Orthodox Christian belief that supernatural intervention allows some human bodies to not undergo the normal process of decomposition after death. Bodies that reportedly undergo little or no decomposition are sometimes referred to as incorrupt or incorruptible (adjective) or as an incorruptible (noun).

Incorruptibility is seen as distinct from the good preservation of a body, or mummification. Incorruptible bodies are often said to have the Odour of Sanctity, exuding a sweet and pleasant aroma.
