  • Could the council create a petition? (Roxana Saberi)
     OP - April 18, 2009, 03:04 PM

HI there, I don't know if everyone is aware of a particular issue, Roxana Saberi, a 31-year-old dual American-Iranian citizen, was arrested in late January and initially accused of working without press credentials. But earlier this month, an Iranian judge levelled a far more serious allegation, charging her with spying for the United States. Could we have a petition set up to secure her release?

I am a big fan of NPR, their news is very balanced. I think the spying charges seem spurious to me. Something needs to be done.

Yes I heard about this case KT and I agree - they are definitely trumped-up charges.

I second the idea of a petition.

There is a petition here - though it appears it has already been presented.

and there is a website here:

Latest news is she has been sentenced to Eight Years in Prison!

Well we don't know the validity of those websites, I think as more organized group we should at least do something. A petition here will show we are wanting to express ourself as ex Muslims, I think we would have alot of validity.
