Why did Hamza Yusuf change after 9/11? Did he give any reasons for it. What exactly did change about him? Which of his former views did he take back and change? Or did he just sugarcoat the same poison?

Because he saw an opening for someone to give the 'moderate' view on lecture circuits and in the media, for societies confused and ignorant about Islam, desperate to find Muslims who didn't have reactionary notions and ideas? Lucrative work, and some kudos and profile involved in that.

the problem with Islam is neither Muslim intellectuals nor  CONVERTED MUSLIM intellectuald  like  Hamza Yusufs and  Hamza tortillas  but fellows like Chris Hedges of West and East...

And that problem is there since the beginning of Islam . Such pacifists add voice to Islamic intellectuals consequently to  Islam .,  But those days are numbered as more and more Muslims and non-Muslims become familiar with Islamic scriptures, Islamic history and the origins of Islam..

Indeed since the alleged death of Prophet of  Islam, Islam  is running  between Ignorance and Extremism at worst and Sufism  & sufi singing at best

I've recently heard that Hamza Yusuf has started going back to his pre 9/11 'aggressive', 'hardcore' type talks, I can't be bothered with checking out his recent shit, or any of the shit he pedals. But would be interested if anyone here used to listen to his stuff and what do they think about how he is changing with the times now.

    Just watched that Aisha video.

There is something about how he looks and behaves and talks.  The arabic phrases every so often.  There is something gutteral about them - I used to speak in tongues - actually it is learned, like riding a bike so still can - that is very similar.

I wonder if it is a form of hypnosis.

If he is returning to an earlier angrier phase maybe he has serious psychiatric issues that he has controlled for a while by being this white convert - the earlier comment about racism is very true.
