    Hear ye Searched the entire forum, and didn't find a single thread dedicated to the Beautiful Game  mysmilie_977

    I am pretty DAMN sure there are a few footy fans out there despite being murtad and all.  grin12 Football is one religion that appeals for all and is for all. So let it rip boys Wink

    Starting off, I'm a Manchester United fan. My First and Only True Love in the game. Looking forward to winning the Premiership 3 seasons in a row, and I feel fairly confident of overcoming Arsenal on Tuesday in the Champions League.

    btw, what a demolition of Franco's Real Madrid last night by Barcelona  Cheesy Barca will be in a good mood meeting Chelsea having almost certainly won back La Liga.

    I see you are a "glory hunter" so I'll post a vid I'm sure you will enjoy. I remember watching this game live and those last 3 minutes still make the hair on the back of my neck stand up. And the look on the face of Lothar Matthaeus is priceless.

    I am NOT a glory hunter. I take that as a below the belt hit  Cry :( Ever since I knew of football almost 15 years back and actually started watching the game less than 7 years back, the name MANCHESTER UNITED has always been in my head and that is exactly the reason why I am a fan and always will be a fan of Manchester United (and Pakistan national team for that matter grin12 ) in the beautiful game.

    I would like to thank Eric Cantona in making me remember the name Manchester United and I thank Manchester United for making me love them and love football.

    and yes that was a special night in Barcelona in 1999....in fact the final was played on Sir Matt Busby's 90th birth anniversary  grin12

    the 2008 final was played 50 years after the Munich air disaster and 40 years after United's first European Cup win in 1968 against Benfica at Wembley.

    2009 win could be special....100th birth anniversary of Sir Matt and 10 years after the historic Treble on '99.

    We can all dream and hope now can we ?  grin12 parrot

    The 2008 final was absolutely EXHAUSTING....I couldnt believe Ronaldo's penalty was saved and was even more stunned in silence when Mr Chelsea John Terry missed. and when Van der Sar saved Anelka's kick....I was in tears  Cry Amazing night and I want that to happen AGAIN !!!

    A friend of mine almost got lynched in a pub on Grand Final day (that's Australian rugby innit).

    About halfway through the game he said "Why don't they give them all a ball so they don't fight over it?"

    Anyway, here is my premier league team of the season

    To be fair Van Der Sar isnt as good as he was a season or two back. He is ageing fast. The only reason he seemed good with the clean sheets was because of our back 4.

    Someone like Iker Casillas or Julio Cesar are THE keepers to have

    They would be the keepers to have. Except they are not in the premier league! (It was a premier league team of the season). And Iker Casillas conceded 6 goals on saturday!

    What team do you support?

    I grew up in 60s Finchley - North London.

    There were two teams to support - Spurs or Arsenal. The cool guys supported Spurs, the idiots supported Arsenal - no contest for an 8 year-old boy, whose best friend was a Jewish kid.

    I almost feel sorry for Arsenal... almost!  Cheesy

    As a (partly nuetral) though it was disappointing to see the game over in the first 10 mins. Arsenal def wont come back now. If they had any chance they would had least had to get a goal back before half time.

    It's curtains for Arsenal - congrats Suprah (United's billions have bought them yet another final Wink )

    Today I am thankful my family moved from the UK to the US.
    Because at least I can cheer for a national football team that can compete with the best in the world.

    Go USA!

    The sad thing is that hardly anybody here knows or cares that their country made the finals.
    I'll be going to the local Brazilian club today to watch it.
