    Strictly speaking, I'm a non-religious, neo-Vedantist, panentheistic mystic. (Sorry, I know that's a mouthful. I'm working on a website to explain it. ;-) )

Can you attempt to explain that in one paragraph?

I guess you could just say I'm a universalistic mystic, for the purpose of the list. As for explaining this in one paragraph, it's too hard to do that.

Hassan is Deist? I thought I heard him say agnostic somewhere.  Huh?

Anyways I'm agnostic in case you want to add that to the list

According to the last thing I saw Hassan write, he said he was agnostic.

Why I am listed as being in Pakistan - I have only spent 3 weeks of my life there.

He's probably mixing you up with the other one. Who does live in Pakistan.

This list isn't even the tip of the iceberg, I personally know at least 7 other ex Muslims who are not on this forum. There are literally millions of atheists in Pakistan, I would guess somewhere between 10 - 20 %.

No way - 10-20% of the population?  Perhaps amongst the circles you mix in, but let me assure you the average Pakistani living in a rural village are as religious as they come, 1% as per that global religiosity survey is more likely.

Tell you what: when we get the new software I'll add a custom profile field and you can all put your own entries in it. So if Ned wants to be a "non-religious, neo-Vedantist, panentheistic mystic" she can do it without driving Aziz crazy.   parrot

    Hello everyone

Sorry to intrude on your thread but it seems to be the most relevant.

I would like to ask your assistance in finding participants from the ex-muslim council for a short psychological study taking place in January / February at the University of Westminster.   I am interested in how ex-muslims substitute the many apparent benefits of being part of the muslim community such as community support, beliefs that help people cope with issues such as bereavement and injustice and so on.

The research is at its very beginning so will involve a one hour interview which can be anonymous and a legally-binding confidentiality agreement will be signed by me.

I need 10 participants. The interviews will take place at the University of Westminster, Regents Street at any time to suit the participant.

Please can you let me know if there is a way to advertise this? There is no payment but I hope the interview process itself will be  beneficial and this will help psychologists better understand why some people leave religion and why others live with religion as a principle part of life.

I look forward to your response. Please email me at alya1979@hotmail.co.uk

    Kind regards,

This link doesn't work anymore: http://salam.googlecode.com/svn/COEM/ex-Muslims.xhtml
That project got nuked by Google. I guess it's because I didn't upload anything that had something to do with software code. So there were only a few documents and all of Hassan's videos. I was actually going to upload a program script but I was too late. R.I.P. :-(

But now that I have access to this server, I have uploaded the list which you can always find at this URL (as long as COEM exists): http://www.councilofexmuslims.com/docs/ex-muslims_list.xhtml

I'm gonna write a mod for this that pulls stuff straight from the db. Just have an additional field on the registration form you can tick if you're ex-Muslim, and the list will update itself like the normal memberlist.

Yeah, go ahead and do that. I have already done that on my German forum. Smiley

I will still maintain my list, because I can keep track of additional information, like country and current beliefs.
