    I have a question:

Is it better to use white wine or red wine when cooking with beef? I guess it depends on the recipe, but I've heard white wine is usually better for chicken, and red for beef.

red is generally used - but cooking is a personal thing, there's no right & wrong answer.  I used to eat friend eggs with ketchup, now I do it with jam on toast!  If you prefer it that way, then its right for you  Afro

Well I also bought some pork as you can see here:

I know it tastes like shit but it was a Sunday night and all the supermarkets were closed so I had to get the pre-cooked stuff from my local Londis.
Anyway, now that I have the house all to myself, tomorrow I'm gonna head to Morrisons to get some fresh bacon and sausages. I also want to cook some pork chops. BTW, has anyone posted a recipe for that on this thread?

Wow CC these dishes look fucking delicious, specially the pierogis. Yum Yum

Let me show you some good ole fatty Iraqi dishes

Here you have the grilled lamb kebab:

And here is the proper doner which we call "gus". Better than that shit Turkish doner they have in the UK  Tongue

And here is one of the most famous "Dolma" (vegetables stuffed with rice and meat)

This is my favourite "Qoozi". Grilled lamb on rice:

    Chicken on rice:

This is the national dish "simach masgoof" = smoked carp:

Here is how it is grilled:

    And how it is served:

Lastly, our national dessert "klecha" which is a biscuit stuffed with palm dates primarily or wanuts

Those grilled lab kebabs, MMMMMMM. Especially the smoked carp! (system overload) Phwoar

By the way IA. Random, but what is your least favorite national food? Mine has to be Moroccan. I never tried it, but from the pictures, it doesn't look too good. Who knows, maybe I'm wrong. But damn I gotta try that Iraqi food!

    This one's easy. British !!!  Tongue  grin12

Well from what I understand there is a sizable Iraqi Canadian community in Hamilton, ON. I don't know if that's anywhere near where you live but you should definitely check if there's a decent Iraqi restaurant. If there is, you should definitely try it.
And if you ever visit the UK, I promise to take you to some good ones. There is a very good one in London in Edgware Road. There are also other decent ones in Manchester, Edinburgh, and the North East (where I live).
