    Just those to things last night. I usually boil a sliced sausage, add the noodle cake and sachets (+ extra cayanne Tongue), sliced carrot, peas and pak choi. Sometimes, i also boil an egg and pop it ontop.

    How did it taste?  The amount of orange (1litre) in the recipe sounds too much..

    We live 2 minutes away from a chinese cash and carry  dance Last time we went we got a box of 20. You might find it at the bigger asian shops.

    The duck was really tasty. Fresh lemongrass is fantastic. Because the orange juice and spices need to be simmered for a good 2 hours (along with the duck) the sharp tang is displaced. Give it a try, it's easy!

    I may make my lasagne tonight if I'm in a good mood.  Afro

    Did you per chance post the recipe to the duck on this thread?  dance

    I've used lemongrass in something before, can't for the life of remember what it was though.  It was from my brief stint at cooking enthusiasm about 4yrs ago. Cheesy

    Here is the recipe for the duck from Rick Stein's Far Eastern Odyssy:

    Serves 6

        *  1 x 2.5kg duck, jointed into 6 pieces
        * 50g garlic, crushed
        * 50g peeled ginger, thinly sliced
        * 1 litre freshly squeezed orange juice
        * 4 tbsp fish sauce
        * 1 tbsp granulated sugar
        * 5 star anise

        *  4 red bird?s eye chillies
        * 2 fat lemongrass stalks, core finely chopped
        * freshly ground black pepper
        * 8 spring onions, white part only, plus 1 whole spring onion for garnish
        * ? tsp cornflour

       1. Heat a heavy-based pan over a medium-high heat. Add the duck pieces skin-side down, and leave to cook for 5?6 minutes until crisp and golden. Turn over and cook for a further 2 minutes until lightly browned. Lift on to a plate and set aside.
       2. Pour all but 2 tablespoons of the oil from the pan into a bowl (save for another dish as it?s great for frying). Return the pan to a low heat, add the garlic and ginger and cook gently for a couple of minutes until lightly golden.
       3. Add the orange juice, fish sauce, sugar, star anise, chillies and lemongrass and season with black pepper. Return the duck to the pan, part-cover and leave to simmer for 1? hours, turning the pieces of duck over from time to time. Cut the white parts of the spring onions in half, add to the duck and cook for a further 30 minutes until the duck is meltingly tender. Trim the remaining spring onion, cut in half and finely shred lengthways.
       4. Lift the pieces of duck into a warmed serving dish and keep warm. Skim the excess fat off the top of the remaining liquid and leave it to simmer vigorously until reduced and concentrated in flavour. Mix the cornflour with 1 teaspoon water, stir in and simmer for 1 minute more. Pour back over the duck, scatter over the shredded spring onion and serve.

    Time consuming but well worth it!

    Here it is again to save us (meaning all the eager beavers who now want to taste it too) from looking for it.  dance

    And OMG peru, when can I come round for dinner?  I only just saw some of your food pics.  Can I have the prawn soup recipe please?

    Just a note on the lemongrass, I bruised it instead of chopping it up otherwise you end up picking out hair-like bits of lemongrass when you eat.

    Sure, it's quite simple.

    Onion (think I overdid it in mine Tongue)
    Garlic
    Stock (veg or fish)
    Chopped Chilli (use both red and green for colour)
    Water
    And prawns of course

    I'm sure you can work out how to cook that Wink There's some recipes online that add lemon juice and some other stuff to it, they sound good.

    I might cook this next week:

    Yo, any peeps up in here have any recipes for fish?

    With a spice kick to it though, I'm not into bland fish.

    I want to incorporate more fish into my families diet but I am sick of doing them moroccan style, so any recommendations would be sweet.

    Thanks peru, I'm going to try the prawn soup today, got prawns, going to improvise a soup from it.  dance

    I haven't made this fish recipe in a long time but it's really nice!

    You will need:
    Good thick white fish (I usually use cod loin but it is a bit dear)
    Flour
    A knob of butter
    Salt
    Pepper
    Chilli powder
    Half a lime

    First prepare the coating mixture. Combine about 3 tbsp (enough to cover the fish) with chilli powder (to taste). Skin the fish (if using fillet), season both sides with salt and pepper. Pop it into the flour mixture and coat well.

    Heat some oil in a pan, melt a knob of butter. When sizzling, carefuly put the fish in and fry for 3 minutes, then turn it over. Now squeeze 1/4 of lime into the pan (not directly ontop of fish) and move the pan around so the lime gets all the way round. Becareful doing this as the butter/oil will spit! Cook for another 3 minutes. You may have to cook it for a bit longer if the piece of fish is thicker.

    Eat.  dance

    I don't generally like fish, but I always used to order 'masala fish' at this chip shop near my old place, and it was unbelievably delicious.

    Ahh, we spent most of yesterday doing this. The cake itself is vanilla sponge with buttercream and jam. I lay the icing and iced Betty Boop:

    I'm waiting for it to dry. I still need to put on some iced hearts and red ribbon around the side.

Then take fish out put a some whiskey into the pan cut some red chillies mix and make a chili pan sauce.
