Pickled okra rocks.  My parents grow okra in their garden.  Pickle and jar it ftw

    or deep fry it

So once again I'm left with the classic Irish man's dilemma, do I eat the potato or do I let it ferment so I can drink it later?

Funny thing is I have learned to cook the desi stuff without my mum actually teaching me and it's starting to taste more like the homely cooking I grew up on. Smiley

I'm making samosas in a while. Smiley

The stuff my mum cooks isn't that complicated. They all have the same basic ingredients.

Felt too under the weather to go out or do any cooking so I had a frozen pizza instead. Stonebaked pepperoni from Sainsbury's own brand, added some extra black olives on top.

    Interesting recipe.

I usually chop up bite size pieces of chickens, fry them in a little oil with some salt and chilli and garam masala, then put it to one side. Then make the base with onions, spices etc etc, then add the chicken back in and cook it come more. There are various bases, some creamy, some like butter chicken style etc etc. I liquidise the base as well before adding the chicken back in. Finish off with some fresh coriander. I always try to use red onions for the colour too.

     Smiley

So, the samosas. It was great fun teaching James how to fill a samosa. Thought it would make a change from his usual position of merely scoffing Cheesy

Filling: lamb mince + pea (one of my favourites). I made a cucumber, coriander and yoghurt dipping sauce to go with it.

How am I going to sleep now? I need fish and chips (and peas) or else I shall go mad.
