It is surprising how much it costs to make cakes, esp when you start buying royal icing, fondant, dyes..

Moe.. try throwing a couple of drops of sesame seed oil
in with the stir fry noodles to really "asian" up the flavor.
Thats what I do with the ramen, like you, don't cook it all
the way, and the flavoring when in the frying pan with a
few drops of sesame seed oil, plus the veggies ya like in
    it.

I made that once before. Came out really good! But crumbly on top. Guess I'll just be more careful next time.

so how long does a cake like this keep for?
After the icing/fondant is on it?

It can last nearly a week (kept in the fridge). If there's any fresh fruit or anything then that will go off quicker. Depends on the cake really.

It is surprising how much it costs to make cakes, esp when you start buying royal icing, fondant, dyes..

Unfortunately, due to the snow I have no idea if my decorations will arrive on time. If they don't I'll just use fondant for most of it I guess. I already have my dragees so I'll have some shiny bits.

    My brownies decorated using fondant:

The white fondant covering is pre-rolled (I was being lazy). The green stuff is my own making though and I have to say it is not as easy making modelling fondant as those youtube vidoes try to make out!!!! The stuff just would not stop being sticky!! And adding too much icing sugar just made it fall apart! There does not seem to be a middle ground :( Which means my dreams of a 3d chocolate cake are out the window now. It's bloody impossible getting the fondant to get as perfect as the pre-rolled stuff. Those brownies took too much effort to make. My back is aching too. Bugger the cake. It'll just have to be simple. Meh.

talking of cakes, how much do you want to bet they still sold these cakes to unsuspecting customers in the end?

    ooooo! oooooo.... nooooo! Islame *gags!*

We have field mice that come to visit sometimes lol.  Thats why everything
is either in the fridge, stored in the microwave when not in use, and
    sealed TIGHT 24/7 lol.

Peruvian!  You brave woman!  you go girl!  I have been trying to perfect
my rue for my beef stew.  After several attempts, I finally got it right
and its to die for! (without having to add instant mashed potatoes to
    thicken it up hehe)

If anyone is interested, I am sure you can find it online, but I have
started using alot of creole and cajun seasoning since I moved here
and don't know how I managed to eat without it now LOL

Tony Chachere's Seasoning (varying degrees of heat available)

Magic Swamp Dust Seasoning (this stuff is amazing! I use it now in almost
    everything)

Savoie's Instant Roux and gravy thickener (available in both light and dark)
I season my meat first, put just a little roux mix in a plastic bag, then
shake meat in it to cover, then brown meat in an iron skillet/pot, then
SLOWLY  add beef broth, stirring continuously, then add more beef broth,
potatos, butterpeas (kind of like lima beans but better)

Also started steaming vegitables (beans, carrots, etc) until tender
    before putting in the stew.

I then let it simmer on low for about an hour or so stirring in 5 to 10 minute
intervals.  I also use ALOT of fresh ground black pepper, and about a teaspoon
or so of cayenne in the beginning, so it is absorbed nicely in the beef and veggies.

q man.. that used to be my traditional "turkey" for thanksgiving and xmas Smiley
Cornish hen, stuffed with wild rice, pine nuts, and two or three dried cranberries,
with mushed potatoes and wild rice dressing, and cranberry sauce.
Now that I am near family, I let my sister do all the cooking, and I just
bring my signature dish, a custard like cheesecake that is to die for.

My grandmother made her special recipe for cooking truffles with mixed vegetables along with a side of saffron rice and diced, slightly crispy, potatoes.  Grandfather demanded meat with it, but we forced him to try it vegie.  He loved it.

Against the ruin of the world, there
is only one defense: the creative act.

    Nice!

So once again I'm left with the classic Irish man's dilemma, do I eat the potato or do I let it ferment so I can drink it later?

What's with Brits and cooking a fish without head?

To me cooking a whole fish without head is borderline barbaric.

This is my dinner today   Roll Eyes  :

The horn in his head was really hard not to make it fall. I had to use something called organic-extrastrongwella-gel

This one took me 4 days, so I had to heat them all in our pity microwave. But still great accomplishment

This one, i worked a whole month on them. Baby mice r not that easy to find. But it was delicous. My friend house is all white and glossy. Hence the white background.
