So looks like those jin are up to no good again, every year allah has to drive them away using meteors! (Surah 72:8-10 and various hadith)
You'd think they would smarten up and try to evade those shooting stars that follow predictable and obvious routes to earth!

These are the sort of things that really wind me up about being a closet ex-muslim. When people talk about stuff involving shooting stars and djinns, I really want to point out how ridiculous it actually is, but I can't!

Things like djinns are the least annoying for me to listen to.  The social attitudes some muslims have force me to bite my lip in frustration, I could care less if they believe in fairy tales.  I'm not sure I'm dealing too well with Ramadan being just ten days away either.

I know what you mean, that really annoys me as well. Another thing that really annoys me is indoctrination of little kids. When I hear little kids talking about Islam that makes me annoys me to the point of anger.

Yes, I agree.  The most infuriating thing I've experienced is my sister who says she is raising her children muslim so they can have a choice to be muslim or not when they are older!  I don't get her logic at all, I don't know how she sees teaching them Islam and only Islam as giving them any choice.  She doesn't even believe in it herself.

When I got involved with Islamia School, I did it originally to make sure I got my kids in to the school, I wanted to give them a strong sense of identity.

I wonder if the Stone-Throwing-Birds that happened to Mecca and mentioned in Quran was a meteorite shower that actually hit the earth? Huh?

Good thought. It's certainly a plausible way for such a legend to start.

You only see them in places like Pakistan. Or that's where the stories come from!
