    Most muslims i know think doing good for the sake of it, without God in the equation is NOT right. My mother tells me (when I asked her) that doing good just because and not to gain entry into heaven and thus make God happy is worthless. Basically any good person (who might have been better than any given muslim) would go to hell simply because of the motivations of their actions--as in they didn't have the right sort.
