Salamo aleykom,

Has anyone read the book?I just got it two days ago and haven't started yet reading. If anyone already did, what's your opinion about it?

I Haven't read any Dawkins books

Take the Pakman challenge and convince me there is a God and Mo was not a murdering, power hungry sex maniac.

Sorry, don't know either

God delusion bored the hell out of me so I haven't read more of Dawkin's works. Maybe it's because i've seen nearly all of his videos and thus I didn't like the overlap?

I listened to the audiobook in my car. Its informative, but didnt like his style - he's too stiff & old fashioned for my liking but I know a lot of people who like him. It still was interesting to listen too, as he has some great anecdotes and examples to back up his claims - they prove useful if you have a lot of discussions with people about the same subject

I'm going to start reading it today, I know he's kinda stiff. but all that matters to me are the evidence for the evolution. btw can you recommend me some good books on the subject?

Anything by Dawkins is a good grounding in evolution. I'll dig up some more.

I am not a bookworm, and prefer visual stimuli, perhaps The Man Formerly Known As 20Years might be able to help, but run a search for the reading list thread - some great recommendatin in there -

I'm about half way through it at the moment. I like it. It's very accessible and should make sense to a non-scientific readership. He has a wonderful way of illustrating concepts and ideas using well chosen analogies.

I wish he spent a bit more time on the human fossil record though. So far so good.

I like his work, he has a way of being in-your-face and a teeny bit rude. But I like it. Someone has to say it like it is.

I dont think the scriptures mentions the age of the earth , but I guess we follow the Bible which when it supposedly claims (sorry I dont have a source but you should be able to dig it out from Cardinal Google) humans are 6000 years old

Yes, they are safe from this because I have never seen anything in the Quran that says the age of humans or the earth. And they can defend the bible by saying it has been altered by man.

Recently bought it. It's a great read, very informative I had to read some paragraphs twice to absorb it though!

Personally I found the best book is "The atheist manifesto" by Michel Onfray.

The age of Humans/Earth to my understanding is ambiguous in the bible too. The number of years was calculated as an estimation of the number of kings, prophets (narcissists) and messengers (wankers) as they follow one generation after another.

I believe koran claims descendancy from the same line of prophet kings all the way up until abraham. So the same calculation will apply.
